New Mary Poppins movie for Dec 2018.

Another CEO may have sold off the parks, the new owner might have run them out of business, or that CEO might have made things far worse than what is currently progressing. $10 Billion for WDW expansion this decade came from somwhere.

Point is we will never know, but I for one love where it is and where it's headed, and would not retake my chances on an unknown.
This CEO did have a chance to sell of the parks and I've heard there even was a point where it was seriously considered.

$10 billion for WDW? Where are you getting this number?

You're not understanding the point here. Just because I say its shouldn't be done doesn't mean it shouldn't. I also said my opinion may change based on the final product. What are you trying to accomplish with this discussion?

I love it for what it is/was, and its historical creative nature and overall history and characters and songs-but do think it's up to Disney to decide if they want to take a run at it, not me. New technology alone will make it interesting, and Emily. Can always skip going to it.

I'm trying to say (said) it's up to Disney, not ME. That is all.

What are you trying to accomplish by saying is "shouldn't" be made?

Is it that hard to say/agree "it's up to Disney"?

Of course it's up to Disney. If everyone agreed oh it's up to Disney and my opinion doesn't matter then there wouldn't be any complaints and there wouldn't be discussion boards.

Your missing the point. I am saying "another" (different person) CEO may not have Disney and even WDW in the position it is in. It may well be called something else, or closed even. No way to know, just not willing to take the chance IMO. Is there a chance it would be way better with another? Absolutely-but just not worth the chance IMO, and eps the future options with Avatar/Lucas/Marvel/Pixar etc.

I have heard $10 Billion for DVC expansion, NFL, 7DMT, MK Hub, D Springs, MM+, Avatar/ROL, TSM 2, Soarin 2, Frozen, S Wars Fireworks, S Wars LAnd, Launch Bay, Toy Story Land, and possible PH 3 at DHS and a possible MK expansion budget. But even $5 Billion would be an amazing amount IMO.

Of course it's up to Disney.

That's all I was saying.

It's been on Broadway for over a decade anyway. I can barley sit through the movie. I mean we get it, the horse race had real people and animated horses-but it goes on and on. As you can see from my original post, it is full of opinion. It just also has "its up to Disney-not me".

Try sitting on a board and saying "it should not be done", however "if I like the final product I might change my mind". You do realise to see the final product means they would have to make the movie first correct?

And where did you hear these numbers?
DVC Expansion I don't really count because that only benefits DVC members.
NFL was in the 500 million range as far as I know.
I haven't seen a number on the hub.
I also haven't seen a number on the Springs but thats hard to come up with because you have this parties paying for things and RCID paid for the parking garages.
Avatar is in the 700+ million range
TSM 2? What is that the third track? There is no TSM 2...
Soarin 2? The film was mainly paid for by the chinese. The third theater wasn't that expensive.
Frozen replaced an existing attraction and the whole thing is costing around 75-100 million so I have heard.
Star Wars Fireworks I haven't seen a number
Star Wars land we don't know a number really and it isn't built yet.
Launch Bay? come on that cost next to nothing
Toy Story Land is supposedly costing around 400 million
Who knows about Phase 3 so I don't think we can include that
MK expansion rumors are relatively dead right now
Without knowing the rest of the number thats just over 2 billion right there. I have no idea where you are getting 10 billion thats a crazy number.

Also what about WDW from about 2005-2011ish. You had next to nothing added to the parks.

Am I on a board? No. If I was I would have a firm opinion. In order to approve something like this a board would likely see a outline of the movie or a script rough draft. I don't have that.

They probably have that. But I still have the opinion they should make it, your opinion is they should not, and we agree its up to Disney. No biggie.

Still avoiding it could be a lot worse.

But I thought you had mentioned some budgets in the past. Here is one. And of course DVC should count, anyone can buy or rent there. Still an investment in WDW regardless.

Well this budget is supposed to be for the next 6 years. 2015-2021, 2.8 billion for DHS alone.

Add $700 Million for Avatar and its $3.5 Billion without the rest. $500 M for NFL and its $4 Billion. $6 Billion with MM+.

That 2.8 billion included phase three which may not may not be happening. We don't know specifics but 10 billion is quite high for what was talked about. You also can't put a set number on MyMagic+ because that number is always changing. I've heard that could be past $2 billion. Disney doesn't release official costs. Even with DVC included we aren't talking 10 billion.

Maybe not, but like I said-even $5 Billion is a lot. And again-a different CEO may have ended up far worse. Star Wars alone may have been passed over-how crappy that would have been.

Of course it is up to Disney to decide to make it or not.

However there are many things a person or company can do....that does not mean they should do it. In this case I truly feel Mary Poppins is so special and unique, there should not be any sequel!

AKK

I didn't realize the new rule round here was "Disney decides, we just accept and shut up." Silly me.

I'm probably much more open to reboots and sequels than many commenters but I'm not particularly enthused by another Mary Poppins.

That said if it's bad it will have no more impact on my enjoyment of the original than the two Matrix sequels or the Star Wars prequels (all of which never happened in my universe).

Hollywood has officially ran out of ideas. Is there anything original anymore!?

Isn't there a saying about there only being seven basic plots in literature?

Anyway, I enjoyed the Mary Poppins books as a kid, so I kind of like the idea of revisiting the character. IIRC, there were a lot more stories than just Jane & Michael's.
