Can anyone tell me more about this?

I have heard the avertising and promotions on the radio and my ears picked up when I heard its going to be the second largest centre in Canada next to the West edmonton Mall. I then mentioned this to my wife and as usual after I spoke to her became confused. Is it a Mall ? or a Power Centre with free standing stores ? I have tried to access more info on the net but have not been able to get anything on this. The grand opening is on the 4th of November and I would like to go down and take a look this weekend if it is a mall. Hey if it is a mall is there a Disney Store in it?

If anyone has this info please share it with us.

We plan on making the trip to IKEA just of Highway 400 for the breakfast for a buck. It runs from 10:00 AM to 11:00 and is really good. After checking out IKEA will head down the street to this centre. The trip down will take at least an hour so I don't want to go if it is only a outlet centre.

Hope to hear from anybody on this.

It's going to have the first Bass Pro Shop in Canada! My brother is soooo excited!

You can nearly see Wonderland from the mall. Great location for going north and stopping to buy stuff for the cottage.hahahaha

Yes it is a mall. But, by no means a large mall or anywhere near being the second largest in Canada.

Vaughan Mills Mall is the 5th largest mall in the GTA.
Eaton Centre has 1.6 million sq ft and 285 stores.
Square One has 1.6 million sq ft and 360 stores.
Yorkdale has 1.5 million sq ft and 180 stores.
Scarborough Town Centre has 1.3 million sq ft and 220 stores.
Vaughan Mills has 1.2 million sq ft and has 200 stores.
(this info from the Toronto Star paper, Oct 30th, pull out section)

As for any Disney Stores, they are no more ! All the Disney Stores in the United States AND Canada (all 313 of them) were sold last month. There will not be any Disney Stores anymore let a lone any new ones opening up ! Over the next year (or less) they will be closed or replaced by the new owners "Childrens Place". As far as is known the only store that was not sold is the flag store in NYC that was resently converted over to a "World of Disney Store" (like the one they have at DTD in Florida). So... if you are in need of a Disney fix... you better go visit a Disney Store soon because they won't be around for much longer !

Side Bar : If by any chance you collect Disney Pins, there is a Pin Meet this Saturday near the Fairview Mall in Toronto. More info can be found in another 'topic' on this board.

Gabe.

Is this true? I understood that Children's Place bought the stores but was still going to market Disney exclusive merchandise.
I spend too much money at the Lime Ridge Store but certainly don't want it to close! Does anyone have any insight into this matter?

:(

I keep seeing comercials on TV for Vaughan Mills and I want to go too! A co-worker of mine says that the mall has it's own off-ramp from the highway :) I think I might try to go on a weekday though ... I'm thinking that it could be busy over the next little while since it is new and Christmas is around the corner :)

Hi Everyone!!

I work at the Vaughan Mills Mall in the Roots store. It is an absolutely gorgeous mall. The stores are larger than other stores in malls and the theming is unlike any mall I've ever been to (and trust me I've been to many). However, even though I work at the mall and I have to be there tomorrow (grande opening) if I didn't have to be there I'd avoid it like the plague for at least the first week because they are going to have performers etc. Some of the stores aren't ready to open yet and the ones that are, their staff have very little training because they rushed us to open early. For example.... I've had two days of training and it wasn't really training because all I did was hang clothes.
Anyways to make a long story short..... great mall.... lots of nice stores.... but avoid it for awhile.

Thanks for that info! Maybe I'll check it out in December ... I saw pictures of the mall on the news today and it seemed like all the parking spaces were taken

Well today was grand opening and the mall was crazy. I got to the mall at 10 after 12:00 and didn't get to my store till 12:45, if that gives you any indication how busy it was. It should be even worse tomorrow and the weekend. They rented the Wonderland parking lot for the employees and shuttled us over but I didn't want to have to wait for the shuttle when I finished work so I parked by the mall.

Hope everyone gets a chance to see this mall because it is beautiful. I'd just give it a little while before you do.

I spoke with both the managers at TDS at Lime Ridge Mall in Hamilton, ON this afternoon. Both assured me that TDS customers will not notice any difference when operations are assumed by Children's Place. The store will continue to operate under "The Disney Store" name, the staff will remain the same, and the store will continue to market merchandise exclusive to TDS. They were unable to confirm or deny the future of DVC discounts saying that many policies and procedures are still being worked out.

Thanks for all your help and info. I have read that there are alot of bigger stores there and several that are noted to be the largest of their kind in the world. I will have to check it out but will wait until the hoopla is over. maybe early december or just before the crapy weather sets in; definatly a place to do some xmas shopping. Thanks again.
