New Magic Kingdom Welcome Show & Main Street Opening UPDATE: Page 15 - Post #281

Now that guests are being invited into MK before official opening, and watching the opening at the castle instead of the train station, has this increased lines at attractions first thing? If we want to make Dwarfs' Mine Train our first ride (without FP), which is the fastest way to get there - through the castle, or around by Tea Cups?

I haven't been keeping up with the thread so not sure if this was already reported. Was at MK this morning and Casey's was closed until 10 am, The Plaza Ice Cream shop was open

Went down last weekend and was told that they were going to stop selling breakfast at Casey I guess she was right

We enjoyed our 8:05 reservation at BOG this past Monday 1/30/17. Main Street was open at 7:45. We stopped for 2 Photo Pass photographers, one near the flagpole and one closer to the castle. Lovely pictures, but still need to edit out a few folks in the backgrounds. We were seated by 8:10, had our food in 5 minutes (we took advantage of pre-ordering our food, and our meals arrived before I could get coffee!) We wandered around BOG after we ate and took pictures in all the rooms, then headed down to wait for SDMT. PPO guests were allowed on SDMT at 8:40 and we were able to ride 3 times before park opening. As we exited the ride the third time, we could see the CMs arriving with the RD crowd, so we left Fantasyland and headed over to Frontierland and rode BTM 3 times before moving on to the rest of Frontierland and Adventureland. We managed 10 rides before lunch. Thank you all for your input to this thread! Your information helped us have a great day!
Especially you, yulilin3! :tink:

Thank you for the report. It's nice to get first-hand knowledge of how things are working.

That stinks! I was hoping for a cronut on one of our MK mornings. Oh well.

Same here, I'd been talking up the hash brown hot dog as the breakfast of champions!

We are there about two weeks ago. It was a very pleasant morning, though we just grabbed snack food and not the hot breakfast options. I can see why they closed it though. We sat at a table right outside and saw only two other parties enter the restaurant in a 30 minute period.

I figured that was the issue...I will have to rethink my plans. I initially planned to just bring stuff from home (we are driving) but my boys are much easier to please with cereal/poptarts/granola bars than I am, so this would've been a good solution.

Thank you so much for your report! We have an 8:15 BOG ADR in a couple months so your report really helps me know what to expect.

So not sure if this has already been discussed here or not, but what happens when regular park opening moves to 8am from 9am? Do they let people through the turnstiles at 7 to get an hour of Main Street time, or is everyone just let in at 7:45? This has happened for our Spring Break trip in March and I am curious.

This show happens 5 minutes before regular park open.
On an 8AM opening, it begins at 7:55 and Main Street opens at 7

There was an 8am opening a few weeks ago, and I was on main street about 7:30 but it had been open long before I arrived

That is great to hear! Makes for a super early morning but I am glad that we will still get to into the park an hour before the park opens. Thank you for you report :)

I'm planning on visiting MK on feb 23rd, park hours are 9am - 10pm. Does the opening show still happen at 8.40am? We want to see the train come in with the characters.

No that Welcome Show was retired. The new show happens at the castle at 8:55am. Main Street opens around 8 am. Most have reported that guests are let in around 7:45-7:50 to hang around the Main Street area.

Read through this thread. The train is no longer involved, the show is on the castle forecourt stage at 8:55.
