New Magic Kingdom Welcome Show & Main Street Opening UPDATE: Page 15 - Post #281

On the plus side...I like the CM who does Sir Sterling. He's one of my favorites (loved him as Guano Joe in Flights of Wonder too). The characters are nice, thought not really more than before. The FG was a nice touch.

The downside, WAY less energy in that show. It's missing music, action, suspense building. It's not as fun or charming.

On the whole I would say it's not an upgrade, but at least they replaced the show with SOMETHING rather than just doing away with a welcome show all together.
Maybe they brought in the Rivers of Light people to write up the new opening show?

Sorry, I couldn't resist.

Are they going to bring back the other show after the train station refurb? Or is this low energy show the new normal?

So disappointed watching the video from this morning!!! :(
Absolutely no energy or excitement! Agree that I only spotted maybe 2-3 additional characters and that simply did not thrill me at all! The Welcome Show at the train station always made us truly feel like we were being welcomed into the park. Kinda like when you arrive at a party or someone's house and they come to the door and greet you.... :flower1: with hugs and greetings!
This seems like simply walking into the party.... and standing around for a while then the hostess walks up to say "hi". There's NO hug, no "HI, so happy you came"! NO celebration that you arrived! VERY IMPERSONAL! :(
Hope it doesn't stay like this!

At least judging by the video, this new show is pretty boring. The old one was so much fun and had the singing and dancing. I always made sure to get to MK in time to watch the old show, but I have no desire to see this in person. I was sad that the old show was discontinued, but I had hopes to enjoy the new one. Oh, well.

So what you're saying is...this isn't the actual show we saw today? When Rivers of Light people get done with it in 2022 we'll see the actual castle park opening show then? :rotfl2:

:lmao::lmao::lmao:

Yes and Yes, thank you for making me spit my drink out through my nose.

"Let the Magic Begin" until it begins again. Things to watch for? Characters bumping into each other, elimination of all twinkling dust, days where Mickey or Minnie are just missing and then all of them doing the Mannequin Challenge at the end so we don't know it's over.

So basically you won't see the show if getting a major attraction done at rope drop is a priority.

You could stand by the rope that will head to the land you wish to go at rope drop ... and thinking they are all in the hub .... so you should still be able to see/hear show, just not up close.

I can't be the only person who knows this is way better from a security standpoint, right???

Completely agree and I think most acknowledge that moving the show .. and whatever other changes they are making to MK entry ... will improve security. With each new incident they need to take this issue seriously.

But folks that liked the show are just disappointed it changes their magical beginning of the day.

Hoping they will hear feedback and bring some music and energy to the show.

Nope, been pointed out several times that it was for security reasons. The Train Refurb just prompted the change to happen now, not the cause of it.
Someone somewhere pointed out that they would have liked to have seen them keep the train show and just flip it to be on the park side of the station vs. at the castle. That would get the folks in the park, clear the entry area and open the shops but still keep the same show. Maybe that would have been a better change?

The person that was there this morning streaming asked at the tapstiles and told that they are only making reservations for 8am onwards
Quick check on mde shows both BOG and CP opening at 8 with CRT opening at 7:55.
I know some of you have reservations earlier than that, so there's some misunderstanding
I'll go to MK early on Thursday and ask around, I'll also check where are the ropes for each land and report back

No surprise at all that those at the gates haven't a clue what time they'll start seating at the ADR. A shame but not a surprise.

Ever thankful for our eyes, ears and feet on the ground!

So, I'm being lazy and don't want to read the last 5 pages but can someone give me a synopsis of what happened this morning?

People were let in at 8 am (no ADR needed) and had access to shops on Main Street then held at the hub/castle until the new show was finished that started at 8:55 am?
