New Laundry Machines coming to Disney World Resorts

When I'm there for longer than 5 nights, I like to do at least one load of laundry! It's usually early in the morning though. I get up, shower, and then take the clothes down to wash. It's especially nice if going on a longer trip. I'll be spending 4 nights at the Grand Californian and then a week at BWV this fall. No way am I taking enough clothes to last me ten days!!!!
Love the idea of being able to check on the machines. And if I get there, and someone hasn't taken their clothes out after a 15 min wait time, I'll do it for them. But that usually isn't an issue early in the morning!!

Im confused by this whole thread??? Who does laundry on vacation? Its a time to relax? RIght? :rotfl2:

Those of us who are traveling as a family of 6, with a 2-day drive to get there, and don't want to come home to a mountain of laundry :laundy:
Laundry at WDW is not the same, it's "vacation laundry" :rotfl:

Exactly!

It doesn't feel like doing "Home Laundry".

And at WDW you could be doing Laundry next to someone from England,South Africa,Brazil,Japan, etc.!:)

Its funny, some people couldn't imagine doing laundry, some can't imagine not doing it. I couldn't even imagine the thought of having all that dirty laundry just waiting in a suitcase to be washed. Especially being in the heat of Florida.

Plus it's only clothes, not piles of sheets, towels and dish cloths. With just the 3 of us (DH, DD6 and I) I can do 2 loads (one light, one dark and have no issues sorting). Plus doing 2 loads at the same time makes it much easier.

This is AWESOME!! We go for two weeks and the thought of not having to schlep the laundry over only to find out there are no washers available will be great. Also, the ability to check on how much time is left instead of playing the guessing game running back and forth and then just having to sit there and wait it out will be perfect. We stay DVC so the $$ aspect of it vs the Charge/Debit part of it doesn't come into play for us. Although we did pretty much pay for 50 years of vacations up front so I'm not fooling myself by thinking my laundry is anywhere near FREE :P.

Wanted to pass along a few pictures I took of the new laundry facilities coming to Walt Disney World Resort hotels. The new machines are primarly credit card operated and require a valid Visa, MasterCard, or Discover Card. There are still a few coin operated machines available as well, but keep in mind that these are very limited in number.

The checking on your phone is cool but I can see if being more of an issue then a benefit.
I think you will see more people start machines and take off then not come back right away. In turn the machines will sit full and not allow others to use them
Not that that can't happen without being able to check but I think it is less likely when someone has it on their. Mind and is checking in on it

Anyway, does anyone have an idea of how long the machines run for?
I'm trying to decide if I want to take time to do wash or just bring extra clothes
Tia

First, I'm a newbie, so bear with me :-)

Wow, I'm hoping that we can try this tech out. Hate bringing a lot of stuff, and I really like the credit card vs. coins payment option.

Does anyone know if the POP CENTURY resort has some of this newer, cooler laundry tech?

Thanks!

Yes,all 3 Laundries(1 at each Pool) at Pop Century have the new machines.

And WELCOME!!!!:)

Aw, thanks so much!

I can't believe we got to go to Disney last year, and we can afford it this year. I am so grateful for the Free Disney Dining promotion - woot!

Congrats-that's awesome you're going back!!!!

I think you'll really like Pop Century!:)

What type of laundry soap is in the dispenser? Tide? Gain? other?
I saw dryer sheets, do they sell liquid softener?
One last question: It appears these are the newer "HE" machines. Most laundry machines have the detergent dispenser on the top. Do these have the drawers you pull out to put the detergent in or do you just dump it in at the start?
Thanks!

T minus 30 days and counting.

The one I used at the Polynesian had the pullout drawer. I had brought Tide Liquid one load package, it turned out to be a mess. Next time I'll bring the pods.

ok, then how clean does it get the clothes? Most "eco friendly" detergent doesn't work that well. Should I buy a small package of tide/gain pods and bring them? I'm making a grocery stop anyway to get some Pepsi.

I bring my own pods. Cheaper and I'm not risking someone having a reaction from the soap that's available.

They had the new machines last year at Thanksgiving when I was there. Nice!
