NEW info on the Exp Everest 5K up on the WWoS

I think Christy and I are gonna do this race too. I'm just very nervous as to what the obstacles are going to be. Do you think it will sort of be like "boot camp"? I guess I better start strength training. I'm so bad about that.

In the FAQ on the Disney site, it says that the obstacles will not be difficult...but the racers will have to have fun with them.

I'm guessing things won't be too challenging :)

Thanks Scott. That's good to know because I lack ALOT when it comes to upper body strength! I was hoping since this is Disney that it would be kinda "beginner" friendly!

New day, different story.

Was: No transportation!

Now: Please note: Transportation is ONLY provided to and from the host hotels listed above. You will be responsible for your own transportation to and from the event if you are NOT staying at one of the above listed hotels.

Cheryl!!! Go for it with the strength trainnig! It will be great working on the core muscles and that can only be great news for your racing right :thumbsup2 I'm using the EE5K right now (especially now since it's cold) to do the circuit at the gym and to build back to the weight levels I was doing back before Christmas. I really think that the circuit worked great on helping me finish the race as I knew I would need a stronger core for the marathon.

Go for it Cheryl!!! finishing the circuit always gives me a great mood boost.

Scott I hope it's more fun than tough. Some of the group has met my Mom (Barb) and she's sooo excited about the race. Which has spilled over to my Dad. Mom has now completed 3 5K's (Flying Pig, DL and WDW) and the 6.5K ToT. She's getting better as to pushing herself out and just when I was not going to sign her up anymore comes the EE5K and SHE is the one calling me when they update it. SHE is the one all but bouncing off the walls.

This will be Dad's 1st event. He's been walking/riding his bike with Mom but he'll have to get to work on it because I don't know if he currently can do the 16 min mile. Mom has been leaving him in the dust if she were to pick up speed. So it shall be an interesting spring/summer with those 2. LOL Mom has already stated that I have to come over and walk in her park since she has the really big hills by her LOL

Ray and I are wanting to do this. I keep saying I will wait and see how it fills and continue to watch airfare. But I have this feeling Ray will have us signed up Friday LOL Ray even sent the race details to a friend in FL LOL The 2 I didn't think would be excited about it are the ones that are the most LOL

Happy training everyone!!! I hope you all have warmer training weather to out in. :cheer2:

Excellent! We are SO there!:dance3:

Tomorrow is sign up day for this. This is what I asked my DH for Valentines Day!! No need for flowers that will die in a few days. I can only imagine the memories we will make at doing this event together. Much more meaningful (to me anyway) than a bunch of expensive flowers.

From the FAQ's:

How long is the theme park ticket valid for? The theme park tickets are valid from September 26, 2008 through October 10, 2008. Theme park ticket entitles you to one day of admission to Disney's Animal Kingdom® Theme Park or Epcot®. Some activities/events may be separately priced. Ticket types and entitlements are subject to change without notice. Tickets are non-transferrable, non-refundable, must be picked up at Packet Pick-Up and will not be mailed. Parking is not-included.

IMHO this is a load of hooey!

"Sure AP holders, you still have to pay for a ticket. Unfortunately, despite operating hte world's most sophisticated ticketing system, we can't for the life of us figure out how to let people register for this race without including this very limited ticket that you don't need and can't sell or even give to anyone else and may eventually be turned into a ticket that is only valid at Blizzard Beach December 20-22, 2014. But isn't it great that a ticket is included in this race package????"

What we are really doing is paying for the party on top of the race. Why bother calling it anything other than an "After race celebration ticket".

I'm annoyed. If DH wasn't so jazzed about this & they weren't offering $155 for AKL, I wouldn't be doing this.

Oh well. Suckered again.

I was so hoping to do this but DH is holding back. Seems to think since we're going for ToT that it's too close together. :confused3

Anyone need a team mate? :)

Well I had to go and check to see if they opened it early and I'm not sure if the register link was operating earlier today but it's working now but when I click on thru to see if I can register this is what is says....

"Sorry: Online registration is not yet open for this event. Online registration will be available on Thursday, February 14, 2008 09:00 PM Pacific Time"

Despite my rant yesterday, we're in. :thumbsup2
Registered this morning - DH was driving me nuts!

We'll be at AKL - couldn't pass up the $155 rate.

I just can't decide on this one.

After TOT I swore I wasn't doing a first time race again since Disney seemed to learn at our expense LOL! Plus I don't need the ticket!!!!!

But I already have a reservation at DVC that weekend... hmm....

I went ahead and signed me and DH for this. He too bugged me this morning about signing up.

DH and I are in!! Can't believe I signed us up without knowing what the obstacles are!!!

I'm signed up for it also! Hubby can't take the time off, so I am bringing my older son, Adam. He's the one who is like a great big kid, so I am sure we will have fun together.

My dh and I are signed up, too. It'll be his first race, and shhhh..... don't tell him, but I'm hoping the Disney Endurance bug gets him.

Should be fun!!

This one sounds like fun, but for AP holders, the price sounds steep.

Does anyone know where we can write to "suggest" :goodvibes a lower cost if you don't need the ticket?

Thanks!

ONE MORE QUESTION: How big can a team be? Anyone know if you can add a 3rd or 4th person, or if you must only have 2?

JUST FOUND MY ANSWERS:
A team consists of just 2 people.

Who do I contact if I have other questions?
Please contact us at 407-938-3398 or via email at wdw.sports.marathon.endurance@disneysports.com

Has anyone heard back as to why Disney is including the 1 day ticket in the package? I have an e-mail out, but so far, I haven't received a response. Thanks!

Also, is there another thread I should be using with more complete information following this event. Thanks again!
