Marriott Opening Family Suites at Disney’s Flamingo Crossings This Summer

"Flamingo Crossings is the perfect area to stay for your Walt Disney World vacation if you are aiming to stay close to the park but have a much larger room for a lower price than you can find at a Disney hotel."

Isn't Flamingo Crossings down the road that runs along the north of Animal Kingdom? So how would you get back and forth to the parks? I assume private transportation or Uber or Lyft?

Yes, it is down Western Way. Since these properties have free parking, we usually rent a car and drive to the parks. We like the Springhill Suites and free breakfast.

If you were driving towards the Grand Destino Towers/ Coronado Springs the first turn would be Western Way the next street after that would be the road that leads to AK passing Blizzard Beach also, if that helps.

I just drove around this area this week. It has major construction with the Target, Publix and future Resorts. And the arrival of college program new campus residence.

The Marriott Springhill Suites and TownePlace Suites share a very nice pool area and amenities including a shuttle Coach Bus Service They had Maingate Transportation on the sides of the bus but I noticed owned & operated by Mears in small print on back. The front desk gave me printout Theme Park Shuttle June 2021 with info for departures to WDW Sea World Orlando Universal Studios
Reservation Required 407-390-0000
Judging from the times... and drop off ,etc... You def should plan on car or uber/lyftt .
Across the street the Hilton Home2Suites is open and the Homewood Suites ..$25 fee nightly for auto
MainGateTaxi.com but front desk confided they did not offer this information to any guest voluntarily... Does not run consistent...
This area is considered Gateway Hotels but is referenced as Western Way Entrance .
.. Hopefully the resorts will improve service once the construction is finished...

I expect these resorts to have an impact on DVC rentals in future .The competition hopefully will keep prices from ballooning further for Disney Resorts!

Flamingo Crossing, is just off the 429 ( toll road), exit 8... for us local's we just call it the Back Gate...

There are going to be a total of I think 5 to 6 more hotels, plus the shopping and restaurants in the town center, this area was worked on the whole time during the shutdown, and great progress has been made... From what I understand there will lots of different types of room offerings from basic room to family suites, nice pools with fun kid areas, pool bars, and more...this area is really going to a nice with alot to offer... I think that this will really offer a much more manageable/ economical price point.

Target ( set to open 2021) & Walgreens will be the anchor stores, some of the restaurant I have read are place like Wendy's, firehouse subs, Dunkin Donut, a couple of pizza places, as well as Chinese or Japanese style restaurants. There will also be a UPS Store which I think is great, for people who want to mail their treasures home, instead of lugging them with them, buying more luggage and such...

I would bet on some type of buses to take you into the parks possibly like the hotels at Disney Springs. Places like Hilton Bonnet Creek offer buses... so I can't see why they would not offer it, whether it is the hotels offering them or Mears, or possibly even Disney itself... Then there is Uber/Lyft, and I would imagine as things pick up maybe the Minnie Lyfts will go back to work as well...

As well the College program and other Disney housing is also right there...

You can buy a toll pass on line ( Sun Pass) or at any Publix, or on the Turn Pike at the rest areas... load them and off you go if you are driving...

This area is close to Disney, as well there is alot of shopping and restaurants in both directions off the 429... 192 is one exit away, in the other direction, there is the Hamlin area, with a Movie theater, Publix, Wal-mart, and a tons of new restaurants coming in, and just up the road a bit more is Winter Garden and the Winter Garden Village, lots of shopping, and restaurants here as well...

I agree as well with the DVC rental impact. Larger families or families that want to stay longer now will have other options opened to them.. that were contained to renting larger DVC units, just to be able to sleep everyone comfortably...

We started staying there a few years ago when the TownePlace and Springhill were the only things there. Last stay in Feb 2020 there was so much construction going on. As a frequent off-site guest, these developments are exciting to me.

Right now rental car or uber/lyft.

I suppose one of the hotel may provided a limited shuttle (2-3 times a day to WDW)

Eventually, I assume there will be a LYNX bus from Flamingo to WDW transportation center since the hotel and restaurant workers need a method to get to Flamingo Crossing.

I stayed at the Springhill Suites for a week last month. As pointed out upthread, they have free breakfast and I have to say it was pretty good. Mickey waffles, eggs, cereal, all the usual (except for toast). I used a rental car to get around, got a very good deal from UCT after buying my park tickets from them. My SunPass got a real workout this time as I was frequently going up and down 429 to reach the retail and restaurants on Irlo Bronson. Side note: I did try the no-toll route from the Springhill down to Irlo Bronson but found it too slow and didn't try it a second time.

When this development hits the big time and most/all of the retail and restaurants are open, it will be in my opinion a very worthwhile alternative to the other tourist corridors near the parks. And for the time being, with construction still ongoing, the hotel rates can be very competitive. Worth checking it out.

So excited to read this thread. We are staying at Townhill Suites for 5 nights in October. The price was amazing and aI love that they have a kitchen as we bring a lot of our own food. I also like the idea of transportation to and from WDW. We will not be renting a car as they are too expensive.
