This is my first post! Please be nice lol

I am new here but I've been reading for some time now.

Where the heck do I begin for accomodations (looking for a condo or villa, not a hotel)

And for a cheap car rental (minivan) with hopefully car seats in them so we dont have to drag ours!!

Im trying to plan for a 2-3 week stay for 2014!

I already know about flights thankfully ...now I just need the cheapest car/condo/park passes and I'll be on my way :)

Thanks!!

Welcome! I can offer you a couple of suggestions for accomodations and tickets.

I know a lot of people rent 3 or 4 bedroom houses just outside Disney. I had thought about that, but fell in love with Wyndham Bonnet Creek myself. When we go back, it will be for 2 weeks at Bonnet Creek for $1,200 or less. I'm looking forward to 2 bedrooms (at either ends of the condo), 2 bathrooms, full kitchen, large living room with seperate eating area, large balcony with chairs & tables, washer & dryer, etc. BC looks amazing with lots of pools, activities for the kids, and a couple of floating rivers. You can find lots of information on Bonnet Creek and other outside accomodations in the "Orlando Hotels and Attractions" section of DIS.

As for tickets, Undercover Tourist is great. Also, the best discount on tickets you can get is through Disney's YES program. It requires that at least one child attend a 3 hour education program (with an adult for young ones) but the programs look so fun. And the discount, which use to be very deep, is still very good.

Hope this helps a bit!

There's a section here on Disney Vacation Club and within it an area on rentals. You'll be able to find out everything you need to rent a DVC villa (condo).

Hi, and :welcome:

First up, accomodation. Assuming you want offsite based on how you state your categories, start with the Orlando Hotels forum here:
http://www.disboards.com/forumdisplay.php?f=15
Lots of good advice on what you can find. For Condo/Villa you have basically two choices; renting either a timeshare condo or a vacation property from an owner or management company. Many of the high end TS's are run by major hotel chains like Marriot/Sheraton/Hilton and rent units directly from their sites; but better deals are usually available from owners. For vacation properties, there are a couple of very popular developments in the WDW area and several competent property managers. Again, a little reading on the above forum will get you on your way.

Car rentals are well covered in the Transportation forum. There are a few strategies you can use. I usually start early with a cancellable reservation (or two) at the best deal I can find, then about 3 months prior when most of the specials start to appear, I start looking for the best code combo on the Transportation board to further reduce my rate. If I can get a better deal, I swap my reservation. Even closer to the date, you can try for a better deal on Priceline or similar sites.

Outside of DISboards, Mousesavers has good information on where to get the best deals for accomodation, rental cars, and discounted tickets.

It takes a bit of time, but keep educating yourself; DISboards could also be referred to as DIS University. Before you know it, you'll have a PhD in Disology...

You guys are awesome! I like it here already .. thanks!
Believe it or not I've been to Disney tons of times, but never with kids.
I didnt have to worry about the car seats, accomodations etc.
I hopped on a plane, grabbed a hotel and went .... lol

I learn new stuff weekly on these boards. A few other places to search......

Www.vrbo.com (vacation rental by owners). We've rented homes for less than villas and condos and I love this when kids are little as you can put kids to bed with a monitor and sit on your private lanai with a beverage around your own heated private pool! Communities like Emerald Island,Oak Ridges, Formosa Gardens are so close to Disney you can see the fireworks and the Tree of Life from some streets.
Search accommodations based on bedroom size and you email owners directly. Don't be shy to indicate what you are hoping to pay. Competition is high so many are willing to offer a great deal - especially for 2 or 3 weeks!
There's no rush for the car. Like a previous post indicates, we go this March and I still look weekly to see what deals there are. Minivans are at a premium because everyone wants one so. Grab that at the 6 month window if you need one. But check back often as last year I was able to upgrade to a luxury Town and Country for much less (supply and demand).
Don't forget to book a few restaurant reservations early. We love resort hopping and spending an evening at Boardwalk. It gives us our Disney fix even when of staying on property. We like the character breakfast at o'hana (Polynesian) and dinner at 1900 park fare (grand Floridian) with Cinderella and her crew. Great way to enjoy Disney without using a day pass.
Have fun exploring the Disboards!

Look at the "Budget car rental codes" thread here from Dec 28'th. Info on how to get a minivan for $225.00 a week and then use a $25.00 coupon on top of that.

Lots of better info above than I could offer, but just wanted to say hi and welcome! :wave2:
Of all the Dis Boards, you'll always find kind, welcoming people on this one! :grouphug:

Thanks sooooo much guys. I think we are leaning towards a home....Windsor Hills likely :-)
