New Frozen show to replace Muppets theatre?

I love The Muppets; they are something I watched when I was little and now DS loves. Every trip this attraction seemed to be closed or being used for something else so other then our trip to WDW; I haven't been able to enjoy it in years. Was really excited it was going to be open this time then a week or two it showed up on the schedules as closed. Bummed I didn't get to see it one last time. Frozen was a great movie and we loved Olfa but we are not on the Frozen craze (guess because I no longer have lil girls at home) so wish it could have found a home somewhere else and kept these guys!

We've been talking about this in the Disneyland at Christmas/Holiday Superthread for a while -- since early rumors first trickled out quite a while back -- and we have been tracking all of the "signs" that point to the rumor being true as time has progressed (including auditions, lack of certain decorations in Hollywood Land, etc.). And yes -- it looks as though something is happening in Hollywood Land (not just at the Muppets theater, but in various parts of Hollywood Land -- there may be an ice rink, a sing-along, a meet & greet, snow, etc.) that will probably involve Frozen.

The rumor is that it is all starting on December 20th and lasting until early May.

I read somewhere that it is going to be a sing along. So I am not sure it will be an actual show per se.

If it is like WDW's version while it is a sing-along, it is also a really cute show. DH was dreading it (he had visions of tons of little girls screaming the songs and the top of their voices) and he really liked it. They have 2 Arendelle residents, a man and a woman, that are the storytellers and they are very funny, including humor that is geared for the adults (think kind of the Genie's type of humor in CA's Aladdin show- there was even a Game of Thrones reference during the Frozen Sing-Along). Anna and Kristoff are there. The story of Frozen gets told through the storytellers, video back screens, film clips, the songs etc. Elsa of course shows up, and I bet you can guess what she sings. It is very well done. We were also surprised to find that while the audio did not seem overly loud, we did not really hear a ton of screaming kids. The kids were clearly singing and loudly- but somehow they have the speakers and sound set up so that it does not even remotely overpower the actual music and vocals. We weren't expecting much and wound up loving it.

That said- I also love Muppets and will be sad if it goes permanently... but as much as I love Miss Piggy, if they were going to replace it with Philharmagic, I think I would be totally okay with it. Love Philharmagic!

Looking forward to hearing confirmation :)

I think we can count on at least one Frozen element invading Hollywood Land.

The auditions that have been held by Disney for musicians with a preferable knowledge of the Scandinavian folk-style of music (to be performed in a "storytelling" environment in DCA) are factual, official and confirmed. Those auditions were held 2-3 weeks ago, and they were announced by Disney.

So those auditions, combined with the Muppets theater being down until 12/20 are enormous indicators that Frozen is coming to Hollywood Land, as 12/20 is the rumored start date of all of the Frozen madness.

The rest of the rumors are uncertain:

The indoor ice rink in Hollywood Land would seem redundant, since Olaf's ice rink & Winter Village in Downtown Disney are sticking around through February 22nd, but there is supposedly an ice rink coming to Hollywood Land, and a meet & greet in the Animation Building. Supposedly -- again, this is all a rumor -- there will also be snow to build snowmen at the ice rink, and there will be Frozen merchandise and food offerings in the area too.

I have been keeping track of the decorations in Hollywood Land because my feeling was that Disney's Enhancement Team might not go to a lot of effort to decorate HL this year (as they did last year), only to have to take it all down in December for Frozen stuff.

It seems that there are strands of garland on various HL facades right now, and trees in front of the Hyperion -- but the festive Santa/reindeer display/photo op (at the end of the street) that was in HL last year was not there a few days ago -- which would be another strong indicator that something Frozen-ish is coming, as that would be an area that was smack dab in the thick of the Frozen fun. I am waiting to see if the Santa/reindeer display goes up.

(Oh -- and this has nothing to do with Frozen, but for those who have not been following the Christmas/Holiday Season Superthread -- keep watch for the giant gingerbread house/hot cocoa counter coming to the Grand Californian Hotel lobby this holiday season!:santa:)
