NEW for 2024 - Disney Dining Plans Returning, Exciting Park Reservation Updates, and More

Does anyone know what time 2024 bookings go live on May 31? Sorry if this has already been answered in the thread, I didn't look through every page. :P

Beginning May 31, 2023, you can add a dining plan to Walt Disney Travel Company packages that include a Disney Resort hotel stay with arrivals on or after January 9, 2024.

While some dining plan information is currently available on the Walt Disney World website and on the My Disney Experience app, complete details and participating locations will be shared beginning May 31, 2023. Please check back on May 31 to learn more.

I asked a CM on chat (so take this with a grain of salt) and they told me midnight.

This is new, isn't it?

"Meals and snacks are nontransferable between party members."

The prices of the dining plan are now ridiculous, and who would pay so much more for alleged convenience when you can just charge it to your band anyway? Bonkers.

Trying to find the prices on the Disney Website, and don't see anything...

Are you through to the quote page? Many of us are still in holding rooms when trying to quote.
Nope. On the dining plan page. Clicked the link "how to modify an existing reservation to include dining plan" and it simply took me to MDE and there is nothing there for me to click to add it on or get a quote.

ETA: Perhaps @Wakey can post the prices they were quoted?

I can see prices on U.K. site
QSDDP £48 for adults £20 for kids
DDP £78 for adults £25 for kids

Exchange rate is 1.25:1 so about $60 and $98

Interesting. I'm on the Canadian site, so perhaps this is why I can't see it.

It’s on the UK site, amounts to about $95/96 a day doing a conversion for the US price, maybe slightly less in US due to taxation differences not sure. Basically it’s gone up about 25%
I wonder how many will now think it’s worth paying (well) over the odds now for ‘convenience’?

So they don’t tell you the price per day, per person anymore. Just the total change in cost for your package when you add on the dining plan at the end. Which makes me think there might be seasonal pricing. No differentiation between adults and kids either it seems.

I plugged in one random night in February for one adult and calculated the difference from the price without the dining plan. It came out to $57.01 to add QS and $94.34 to add the DP.

That's interesting. Maybe just some legalize? Otherwise a family would have to have each kid ringing up their own meal/snack somehow.

Suspect it’s more about they hope people won’t notice the price, and will click proceed.

Very true. Very true. If people like to get the DP mostly for convenience, they might find it inconvenient to do all the mental gymnastics to figure out what they’re really paying.

Bet most won’t notice this either:

Certain select menu items require payment of an additional amount in addition to redeeming the number of meals required at the location.”

If it’s $95 per night then I think you could easily spend
$70 on a table service entree, dessert and drink
$30 on a quick service entree, dessert and drink
$5 on a snack
And use the resort mug for about $3 per day so still slightly ahead but only if you would normally eat all this food.

So there is no more trying to make the math work by only ordering the most expensive menu items either anymore, it seems. The mouse always wins.

I imagine this will be a bucket of cold water over the heads of those who were excited about the return of the dining plan.

I agree.
and those wanting alcohol now every single meal, to try the almost impossible task of getting your money’s worth back, will have to plan very carefully which quick serves they can visit.
