I'm starting to think we should have held this event in a roundhouse just to prevent people from trying to hide in the corners. Its funny how many shy people we have here on the DIS with post counts in the 4 and even 5 digit range.

Val & I always enjoy talking to DIS folks - new friends and old. Fortunately we will have a lot of time to meet with folks before/after the movie.

Also wanted to mention that we are very gay friendly (I know there will be a few of you there) so please make an effort to say hello!

I'm not entirely sure if my dh and dd are still going to be with me...so I could very well be on my own...even worse situation!!

So sad that I'm going to have to miss this amazing event! But glad Brian and the girls will still be there! They can take lots of photos for me and have lots to tell me when I get back from NC!

You are all going to have the most amazing time! Tara and the rest of the organizational team has done an amazing job with this event! You are all going to have the best time!

Hi Everyone,

Sorry I have seem to have been MIA... There are a group of us working behind the scenes to make this a fantastic event and we have new things happening everyday. Please check and make sure all the information listed for you in the first post is correct. Also if you have not RSVPed for the BBQ please do so ASAP as we are trying to figure out what we need for food.

We have some amazing silent auction and door prize raffles but if you have something you would like to donate please PM me.

Many people have asked how they can help or if they can bring something. To make things easy we have the meal portion covered but if you would like to bring a dessert to share that would be great. If possible please make it finger food so we do not need to obtain extra utensils.

Thanks again for all of your support and feel free to let me know if you have any more questions.

Add me to the shy corner group. Not to mention my husband is not a Diser and doesn't get the whole online community thing (which I've been part of one kind or another since the 90s). He does, however, believe this is an excellent cause and is going with the flow. Still, he's not going to push me to talk to people, so I will have to be brave!

A few years ago I saw a post about a DIS meet in Boston and after lurking the boards for a while I was like "What the heck, I am going to force myself WAY out of my comfort zone and just go." So, we drove to Boston and walked into a place not knowing anyone and I felt so nervous. The people we met were so nice and made us feel welcome and we now have some AMAZING & WONDERFUL friends. I know that you all will be welcomed with open arms as we were all in your place at one time. Can't wait to meet everyone and drag you all out of the shy corner!

DIS Unplugged posters met at Doyle's in Jamacia Plain. At least that was my first local DIS event.

It was the one at Doyle's but we went to Fire and Ice too. It was at Doyle's that everyone told me that I had to check out the Podcasts. Since then I have been hooked! It is cool to have freinds who understand my"Disney enthusiasm"!
