The member who gets the referral gets credit under the sharing the magic program but only if the new member closes on a contract and the referring member lives in a state that qualifies for the referral program. Depending on how many qualifed referrals you have determines the amount of the rewards.

I do think this is for Add ons as well, but not sure about GCV. We will have to see what keeps coming out as people talk with their individual guides.


Also, that referal thing is a bonus. Wow, no wonder everyone emails me to "offer" to be a referral. Why would Disney limit this to a referral incentive. That doesn't make sense. They limit who will buy and then they have to pay a member a referral fee. I think that isn't very good business sense especially since they then go around offering to find you a referral, not to mention that existing members aren't particularly happy since the point changes.

Now I am waiting to see if the Disney Visa will offer any incentives like a gift card like they did in the past. Does anyone know when they update and change incentives on the Disney Visa?? I am getting greedy!!

This is not for add ons for current members, here is the email from my guide :

"Hi there - I hope you're doing well - just an FYI that we have a new incentive for referred new members - a free DCL cruise vacation! For 160 points they'll get a 3-night cruise for 4 ocean view stateroom, for 200 points a 4-night cruise for 4 and 270 points a 7-night cruise for 4! Only for new members that are referrals from existing members "

As for the referral, I have earned my guide some decent money by referring 2 of my friends last year and I have a great relationship with him. He knows how much I love Disney and how many friends/relatives/ family/ Dis friends : ) etc. I have who love Disney so he sends me the referral info and I pass it along. I think it is a great deal for the new members getting a nice deal (free cruise) and a good incentive for us current DVC members for spreading the word and sending them business.

The cruise IS available if you are purchasing an add-on at GCV. I just did this yesterday in fact. I was given the option of choosing matching developer points OR for 150 points (what I purchased) a cruise OR if I purchased 200 points a 7 day cruise. Upgrades were per my previous post. You can upgrade to verandah room for an additional charge.

I purchased SSR in california 2 years ago - and added VGC points this past week. My guide called me yesterday to inform me of the changes in incentives, and whether I wanted the points or the boat!

You choose one or the other. I took points and booked a GC room in July for 5 nights. We won't be staying there "officially" until next April, so I thought it would be fun to "kick the tires". Plus we've never stayed there. We usually stay at the DLH next door.

You can get this cruise with your GVC add-on. For 100 pts you get a 3 night stay, 125 pts gets you 4 nights, and 200 gets you 7 nights + a week in RCI.

This is in lieu of developer points. There are some restrictions on dates (like Spring break).

Let's hope until at least 3/26 so non-founding members of VGC can take advantage of this! At least that is my hope since I only want to add-on with VGC. I have asked my guide, but haven't heard back yet.
