New DVC members leave in two weeks

Our family (mom, dad, and 3 kids) is excited to be leaving for our first trip at DVC members in two weeks! We're from Maine and have a lot of snow, so we're even more excited.

We made an offer on a 250-point contract at SSR on October 16th and were able to close and get in the Disney system by December 2nd. We thus were successful at getting our preferred rooms for a trip where we already bought the plane tickets about a month before we were in the system. Good magic all the way around. We do have a 1BR at SSR the first night before moving to a 2BR at OKW for the rest of the stay, so we're hoping that our wait-list comes through. However, we're happy and excited with way that it all worked out.

Thanks to all of you who gave us advice and encouragement along the way. We also received our membership cards on Thursday, so we're all set to get our annual passes too!

Thanks. Yes, we do plan to get the TIW card. We have at least 3 table service meals planned with groups of 10 and 7, so the card will pay for itself quickly. We haven't done TIW before, but we're looking forward to it.

They will add 18 percent tip to the bill when using the TIW card so be sure not to tip more unless you want to.

We will be at OKW at the same time. We live in Massachusetts and have a lot of snow too. I love OKW when I want to get away from New England winters. Congratulations! Enjoy! Welcome Home!

It's always fun to see a fellow Dis'er from Maine. I sometimes feel like we are the only ones! We live up in Aroostook County (so snow is no stranger to us!) and just sent in our paper work to become offical DVC members too! We bought at OKW, we have toured it but it was before the refurb and it was just brief so it would be great if you let us know what your thoughts are on our home resort. We bought directly from Disney on our last trip just a few weeks ago in the begining of December. We have been thinking about it for quite some time now but decided to just bite the bullet and do it. My DH and I are going back at the end of this month with out the girls for our first adult trip and plan to use our first DVC points in September! For the adult trip we rented some points and are staying at Kidani Village. We haven't posted we are offical yet since the actual closing isnt done, but should be soon. Anyways, I just wanted to say HI, congrats and welcome to the DVC family!

Thanks for the kind words. Being from the coast it feels like we are in the balmy parts of Maine the past few days. Most of our snow melted the past two days. I'm sure that they'll be more, but it's been nice to have a thaw. Maybe we'll see each other at OKW sometime. We have 3 or 4 families from Deer Isle that go to WDW frequently, but I think that we're the only DVC owners.
