We had out first ever! WDW vacation May 12-19. We stayed at AKL. We knew we were hooked on WDW so we took the plunge and became DVC members. We just closed with our home resort being BLT. Looking forward to being on the monrail since we have young children and travel with our own stroller. We are going back at the end of Sept. We are on the BLT wait list with a ressie at SSR, 2 bedroom as we will be traveling with our friends and their two young children. YEAH! Next week we will also book a Feb. ressie for my big 3-0 bday! I called MS and they said there are still rooms at BLT for Feb so hopfully we will get to try out our home resort that trip. Anyway. Anytips for SSR and young children? Ours will be 1.5 and 4 years old. Our friends children will be 1.5 and 5 years old.

I don't have any tips, but want to Welcome You to the Dis and say Welcome Home to DVC!

Bobbi:welcome:

We have stayed twice at SSR with young kids. The first time they were 2 and 4 the last time they were 4 and 6. The pool is great for small kids with a zero entry entrance and my son loved the Donald Duck area. We stayed in Congress Prk both times and it was great for walking to DTD. It also was great to walk to DTD to catch a bus to a resort for any of ADRs.

We didn't do the community hall but I hear it is a good one at SSR.

We really really like SSR. We were originally booked at BCV but some things came up and we had to reschedule and were "stuck" with SSR. After that first time my husband really only wants to go back there!

:) My DH and I bought our first points this past weekend. I am so glad you are having a great time on your vacations.:wizard:

Congratulations on your new points! Most people say they wish they had bought into DVC sooner - you did it on your first trip to WDW :thumbsup2.

As for SSR, we've stayed there once (Grandstand) so I'm not an expert but I'd recommend requesting either the Springs or Grandstand sections if you want to be closest to the main pool, community hall & restaurants in the main building. The Grandstand section has a nice "quiet pool" with a fun water play area. One of the outer sections (either Carousel or Paddocks) has a playground so if your little ones really like spending time doing that being in those sections would be good. Those sections aren't as close to the main buildings though. Then Congress Park is the closest to DTD and some of the villas have a pretty nice view of it as well. Many people walk to DTD from this section. I guess it depends on what your families like to do most. Whatever section you're in, have a great time! :goodvibes
