New DVC Member - First Reservation

Title says it all! I'm a recent DVC member (bought on a cruise back in March), and made my first reservation this morning for next June at AKV Jambo - 1 BDR SV for DD and myself. It will actually be our first trip at WDW after many trips to DL. The week at AKV will actually be the 2nd half of our trip, as we are doing a split stay with the Poly. I'm so excited (no one understands why really), but I knew I could post on the DIS and everyone will understand.

I'm really looking forward to many more trips to WDW and our "home" there. Finally this trip is beginning to seem real. Now I can really start planning things. This trip is for my DD's Double Digit (10th) Birthday and I really want to celebrate it. We will take one day and celebrate my birthday, but this trip really is all for her.

Congrats! I too was a DL vet before my recount trip to WDW. I was sure wouldn't like it as much as DL but we did! It's was so much fun! You are going to love it! We stayed at BLT and visited AKL. That was a fantastic resort! Have fun!

Btw, I'm a single mom and traveled with just my 6 year old. WDW is so easy if you are traveling without another adult.

Btw, I'm a single mom and traveled with just my 6 year old. WDW is so easy if you are traveling without another adult.

Yep, I'm a single mom, and have definitely found it easier to travel with just her and I. We did our first cruise with just the 2 of us this past March, and it was the best cruise we have taken so far. We are definitely looking forward to taking on the World next year.

Our DCL cruises have been the best! Such an easy vacation as a single parent. I was a little nervous about WDW alone with a little kid and was shocked that it was just as easy.

Congratulations!!!!! I understand your excitement. I feel like a newbie a little bit since we skipped disney last year. BUT, we are planning two trips in the next year to make up for it.
