new dvc..help with points??

Hi there, we are on the waiting list for portugal in aug 2012-275pts
we have booked our home resort just in case we dont get portugal - aug 2012 -246pts
we want to book a cruise(possibly this month) in 2013 for 620 pts, can we specify which points are to be used or is there a set pattern ..
sorry if it doesn`t make sense but we`ve only been members since august

Could you specify what your use year is and how many points you have? Then someone might be able to help.
