New DVC being discussed on Mouseplanet

I heard this too. Additionally, there will be table games, 1200 slot machines and an 8,000 seat theater. It's part of a yet to be announced three-way venture between Disney Vacation Development, Donald Trump International and the Neverland Indian Nation.

Slot machines...count me in. :rotfl2:

Am I the only one who would lose all interest if the rumored property is a high rise. :sad2: Just not my cup of tea on vacation.

Nope, I would feel that way too. I kind of feel that way about the DVC's that are hotel like anyway. It's why I prefer OKW.

...the monorail would actually be built so that it went directly into the casino, dropping players off at the table of their choice

Only Disney could think up such a plan. Thanks for the info.

Isn't the STOL right next to Richard Petty, I would not want to pay premium points costs and hear that race track whenever I wanted to relax around the pool. Someone here suggested calling it the Richard Petty Villas. :car: :car: :car: :car: :car: :car:

I do not think this is a concern. According to the diagram the road 'remodelling' will go right through the race track. And nothing slows down a race car like a traffic light (or stop sign).

Isn't the Contemp Tower 15 floors? Why would a 16 floor resort "behind" CR be such an eyesore?

I think the eyesore reference was probably about the STOL site. As you approach the MK, it would be jarring to see a high rise I think....sort of what Walt Disney was trying to avoid when he bought all that property IMO. If you notice, you can't see the CR as you drive toward the MK.

Even so though, another tall building besides the iconic CR would change the view around the whole MK area don't you think?

Others like me just don't like to stay in high rises on vacation. It makes me feel like I'm in a big city not at WDW. :sad2:

Ok, let me try and explain some things:

1. My source is someone I trust and can not reveal. Is this person 100% accurate? No. We all know that Disney has canceled plans before (ie; Eagle Pines). So time will tell.

2. DVC Future Site You are correct, this is NOT an architectural drawing. It was a CONCEPT drawing (early on). Now, I can't explain (and don't care) that they used remodeling and not realignment. As to why the new road "realignment" goes through the race track...hmmmm....race track is not a money maker...race track is loud...race track really doesn't fit the area plans...Petty contract about up...hmmmm

3. Why "realign" the road? Could fix concerns/complaints from resort guests about waiting in car line with the rest of the crowd to get in. Why not create a dedicated resort roadway to solve problem. Only resort guests can stay. Fly over being expensive? What makes you think it will be a fly over? Easier (cheaper) to dig down under.

4. No infrastructure? The whole area is loaded with infrastructure. Doesn't take much effort/cost to tap into existing water and sewer.

5. Why this site over CR? Size of facility....first resort on EPCOT monorail...mixed use resort (DVC and hotel designed from the start to be this way)...better themeing...easier to market to a wider audience. BTW, this doesn't eliminate the CR as a possibility for future growth.

6. I can't comment on the 16 story rumor. I have not heard that one...nor is my source saying what the theme will be (could be he/she doesn't know that).

7. 2008 opening? Possible. Picture this as a phased development (like SSR). Phase I opening late 2008.

Well, that is all I know...and someone who posted earlier was close...my signature is NUTS because I am nuts (so my wife says...but then I reminded her that she married me which must make her nuttier). :upsidedow

How often is Petty open anyway? We stay at the Polynesian, often in Rapa Nui and have never heard it? I never thought it fit that area. :sad1:

I still say doubtful unless site work begins now. There is no major infrastructure in that area. The landing strip was built before there was major construction in the area....nothing runs under it. Digging the canal to Bay Lake would be costly, and counter productive to only run a boat to MK if it will already be linked my monorail. There is already a roadway route to the resorts without going through the MK main entry portal. And it would only take a minor rework of the portal road near the MK entry to eliminate that "problem" not moving the entire roadway.

Are there proposed plans for use of that site...probably. I'll bet there are plans, proposals and drawings for most of Disney property. Most are ultimately rejected for any number of reasons. It's what "planners" do, they propose how use and develop areas. But just because someone has proposed plan...

I still think it will be the Contemporary in the North Wing area. Mainly because the entire Contemporary resort is under going room rehab but nothing as been done to the North Wing. Pretty soon no one is going to want to stay there.

I, like a few others, don't doubt the fact that a proposal exists for a new hotel/DVC on the STOL. There are probably at least a dozen proposals for hotel ideas on Disney property. Hell, there are probably plans in place just in case The Hulk and Superman come over and kidnap Mickey. It takes more than just wishing on a star to make a hotel come to be. So maybe someone in the know saw one of these proposals sitting on someones desk and leaked it. The CR certainly seems to make more sense. A high rise would fit better there. Guests would stay in just a "boring" DVC high rise b/c water or Magic Kingdom view and monorail alone, not to mention great tennis and water sport activities. Rumors are fun, but remember, you will not hear anything official until SSR is closer to being sold out. What is the latest figure on the SSR sales?

I believe Disney has speculation on at least 5 resorts and/or other entertainment venues(parks, water parks, etc...).
