New Disney Ships: News, Rumors, Speculation.....and Names!

DCL promoted the Treasure much more and it is basically the same as the Wish. Lounges are part and maybe those themes don't appeal as a big change but I would think things like the Lion King restaurant and Hercules stage show might be covered more. Or the new promised villain appearances. Heck I am curious about what the Grand Hall will look like- the concept art was pretty sparse. By the end of October we had actual photos of the Treasure atrium with a Maiden voyage over Xmas. This is really quiet if they are trying to sell it.
Not sure no media is a wise idea if they want people to board. As They cant board if they dont know the ship exists.

But the aesthetics so far seem really uninspired.

I am sure those of you that keep close track know it like the back of your hands. How many ships does DCL have in operation now? What many, if any, are being built?

The upcoming Disney Destiny is number 7. The upcoming Disney Adventure (Singapore based) will be number 8. There will be TWO more Wish Class ships (one for DCL in 2027 and one for OLC (Japan) in 2029). And then THREE more in a totally new class between 2029 & 2031. Once all are sailing, there will be a total of 13.

Thanks. It sounds like DCL has been in expansion mode lately. Has demand pretty much gone back to pre-pandemic level?

During the covid revenge travel period (Once things started going back to normal) it seemed every cruise line (including DCL) was booming which caused all of them to knee jerk IMO and start rushing to order more and more ships. Many of these ships holding 4000 + guests (across the cruise industry not just DCL). So lots of beds to fill while more and more port cities are not as friendly to the cruise industry.

The cruise lines have also started to both out price their guests and cut back on offerings in the last year- from Carnival switching up their loyalty program, to NCL charging for extra entrees, to both Royal and DCL raising prices on their newest ships to eye watering levels. I personally suspect that the cruise industry is in for a rude awakening in the next few years in the US if there is any economic downturn (which always happens eventually). It will be interesting to see if DCL keeps their commitment to 13 ships. It would not be the first time Disney announced a project and walked it back (looking at you Tony's Town Square Theater and Mary Poppin's ride).

Thanks for the info. I supposed there are clauses in place that would allow DCL to delay orders if things don't go according to plans.
