New Disney Ships: News, Rumors, Speculation.....and Names!

I’ve been thinking about popular Disney and Pixar movies that haven’t been used yet for stateroom themes.

Obviously, Star Wars (lounge but no staterooms) and Marvel (Marvel’s on the Adventure but not Destiny)

I am going to mention Muppets because I have to (a girl has to dream!)

For Pixar, there’s still a bunch they haven’t tapped into: Wall-E, Toy Story, Cars, Ratatouille (dining), Monsters Inc, Turning Red, Elemental, Soul (lounge), Onward, and Coco (dining) all seem like good options.

When it comes to the Disney classics, I’m thinking Dumbo, Robin Hood, 101 Dalmatians (does have the Destiny lounge), Bambi, Lady and the Tramp, The Jungle Book (not counting the suite), Aristocats (lounge), Oliver & Company, Snow White, Peter Pan, Pinocchio, and The Sword in the Stone.

Then there’s a whole other group of Disney movies like Zootopia (Sweet shop), Beauty and the Beast (Lounge), Wish, Wreck-It Ralph (Sweet shop), Treasure Planet, Brother Bear, Lilo & Stitch, The Hunchback of Notre Dame, Emperor’s New Groove, and Tarzan.

They could also lean into Disney parks or attractions for themes, but I might be reaching there.

What stateroom themes would you want?

New ship should have either a mulan show or mulan dinner show with chinese food.
A Mulan dinner show could work.

The issue with Mulan for a theater show is the music is only really in the first half with a reprise and a credit song later on. A Girl Worth Fighting For being the moment where it goes from hijinks to realizing the little girl who "lost her doll" was a girl worth fighting for. I love the film but it might be hard to capture on stage since it gets somber fast. Also I wonder how many people will be up in arms about Mulan dressing as a man or her fellow soldiers later dressing as women. I could see DCL trying to not open that can of worms right now.

The wish is so princess heavy I can’t see them doing another one like that.
I know it has a lot of Princess stuff, but it’s not entirely cohesive…I am thinking something that just feels like being in Fantasyland throughout the ship—but with more princesses than you see featured in the U.S. parks. Basically a week of feeling like you are in a floating royal castle.

I would love an Aladdin themed dinner show. I’d be happy with Encanto too. Maybe something like Monsters Inc so they could essentially do whatever they wanted for food (I know the Adventure is getting the Japanese restaurant which is Monsters Inc themed.)

Personally I wouldn’t like a Mulan one as I don’t like American Chinese food (which is different than English Chinese food and Chinese food in China) so unless we were going for actual Chinese food it would be a no from me. But I’d love a Mulan show.

I also hope they can add Tangled the Musical to the new ship as currently it’s only on the Magic.

Tangled for the second night show would be amazing. An Aladdin dinner show could be fun too. They would need an amazing Genie.

I was trying to think of past shows Disney has done in the parks and besides Tarzan (which I love but I don't think rollerblades are a great fit for a cruise ship) they did have a Pocahontas show in AK and an wonderful show for Hunchback in Hollywood Studio.

Destiny's inaugural is scheduled for late November so it's floatout should be coming in July. That would free up an extra space at the shipyard to begin work on the next Wish class ship.
Or perhaps the shipyard will use that to build cruise ships for other lines

I think Aladdin as the new restaurant on Wish #4 would be an awesome choice!

I can’t imagine they would do it- but a Hunchback of Notre Dame one would be awesome too! And full of French cuisine! But that movie just doesn’t resonate with most unfortunately. (I think it’s really underrated personally.)

If I’m betting on what they actually go with- probably Encanto.

Maybe but it took MW 19-20 months to build the Treasure before open water testing. They could have enough time for the Meteor IV but I doubt they could get the Carnival sister to the Jubilee done (Its also set to sail in 2027) It also depends on when in 2027 DCL is aiming for.

Oooh I think a small "Soul" jazz bar/ lounge could do great! It could be small and not take up too much space and the theming doesn't have to be super in-your-face, just light touches here and there

Pixar doesnt do songs. Not disney.
Coco had songs. Others had a few, too.

Pixar isn't Disney Animation but the two have as lot of history together and share some DNA. Even before the acquisition, Disney helped finance, guide, and distribute Pixar movies starting with Toy Story. After the acquisition John Lasseter, who was head of Pixar, ran both animation studios until 2018. It is not the same, and it's true that most Pixar films aren't musicals, yet the Pixar brand and storytelling fits comfortably within the Disney company, parks, and cruise ships.
