New Disney Race in Sat Oct 27(Night Run) & Minnie Rumor

Oh! As a total night person I would so love to do a race at night! Only problem is that right now my knees won't even hold out for a 5K. I go to the Ortho on Tues. I expect knee replacement to be in my near future. I'll have to see how that goes.

Nancy -- Good luck at the ortho! :goodvibes: pixiedust:

Oh, Kristi, I am thinking I might need to look for a SWA Ding fare for that weekend! No. . . .someone hold me back!

hmmm.....I wonder what the medal will look like? Maybe a Halloween theme?? That would be so cool!

Robert,

Any idea on when an official announcement might be made??

I don't know if I could pass up a quick weekend trip for this first annual night race, MNNSHP and Food and Wine.....

Kevin :earsboy:

EMMI was very evasive and just said "keep checking the website":confused3

Don't know why they can't give a little hint as the race is only 6+ months away???

Well "Boo" to that. How do they expect me to get so excited I can't possibly NOT go if I don't have any information?? (Hmmm... to book dummy reservation at Pop Century or not book a dummy reservation at Pop Century......)

DD12 is begging to do this event! After all, Tower of Terror is her favorite ride and a nighttime race sounds like so much fun and her birthday is a few days after the race date and her and DS's APs don't expire until November...the list goes on. Hopefully they'll have info at the Minnie expo if not posted online before.

As Mom & I were doing the Half from H#ll today, I told her about this one. How it was on my birthday, Halloween / ToT theme, etc. She just said that she'd have a free plane ticket since she's flying so much on Southwest lately - I think that means YES!

Of course, I would let Chad come too. :rotfl:

And, Zack is old enough for the kids clubs at WDW now. So we could sign him up that night and not have to scramble to find someone to babysit him during the usual obscenely early Disney morning races!

And we have APs.

And we can go to MNSSHP again! I think the party we went to in '05 was the most fun we've ever had at Disney World!

Hmm...me thinks this is coming together rather nicely...

Robert

Thanks a bunch for posting this information. Martha and I talked about this over dinner, and we are so in for a 13K at night. I've already got an idea for a costume.

Halloween is our favorite holiday, and that night is the 30th anniversary of the night we met. I cannot think of a better way to spend that evening with my bride.

When you say EMMI told you to keep checking the web site, I assume you are talking about the WDW sports, through to endurance events, site which we use for the marathon. Is this correct?

What a great idea and what a great time of year.

Craig

Craig congrats on 30. I just had #18 on 3/18. The WDW site is the one to follow up on. I hope to get more details before Minnie. Will have more after the expo and will email from WDW.

Still trying to figure out how I can go:confused3

Okay we are in for the October 27 run. We just booked 3 nights at the Swan over that weekend using the teacher's discount. We'll arrive Thursday the 25th and leave Sunday the 28th.

So effectively we've committed for a race which hasn't been announced yet. Who says we can't be spontaneous?

You have booked a hotel!? Oh, now I'm jealous. I had rationalized maybe throwing in the RFTT in October (you know, as part of a conscientious Goofy plan- after all, I'll really need to know how much progress I've made) but now maybe I want to do the unknown Tower of Terror race. (side note: What do you think- is it going to be a Halloween theme or are they going to give Pluto a race?)

I usually go with my "I'm saving a ton of money because we're driving" attitude, but I don't think I can present that to DH with a straight face for two trips in October. So I guess I have to decide. Love the Food and Wine Festival and it would make DH happy, but a night run sounds soooo cool. I suppose it's going to come down to the bling...:rolleyes1

This is killing me! How can I justify a WDW trip in Jan, a WDW trip in May, a WDW trip in Jan 2008 AND a trip in Oct?? Well, I suppose I could...hmm, I think if I fly SWA one more time before Dec I earn a free trip:rolleyes1 :rolleyes1 . Oh ya, and I have an AP....if only I could sleep on the beach!! An Inaugural medal....I'm thinking ToT or villain themed. Oh my....

I am in the same boat. Jan 07 May 07 Oct 07(RFTT) Jan 08. My DW won't be able to make a second WDW trip in Oct so I don't know what to do:confused3

5 cross country trips in 13 months????

DO IT!!! You KNOW you want to....just think--inaugural race, at night, through the theme parks with their parade lights on, hopefully some spooky music to go with it, people running in costumes...oh yeah, you wanna do this!!!

I am so psyched about this race!!

I know, I know....but it's an inaugural nightime event! How cool will that be??? Plus, if I fly in Oct then my flight in January would be free!

It is scary how easy a relatively sane person can rationalize 4 trips to WDW in a one year timeperiod. Even with an AP though the room gets expensive and I'd hate to fly all that way for just a couple of nights....especially because of that AP....see how easy it is to talk myself into it?? AND, I am not spending any money to travel to the CDC in August 'cause it is practically in my own backyard, so I am saving a lot right there....

yes, it gets easier and easier. Give me a couple of days and I will probably be able to justify the RFTT too:lmao: :lmao:

I don't think 4 times in one year is excessive at all :rolleyes1
