So what are everyone's takeaways on the above mess? I'm feeling better about putting my LLs on gift cards again as that was not the trigger- more of it being a victim of Disney's overzealous gc division. Might be a good idea to make sure I have all the money on the gc for LLs a few weeks before it's needed so if there is any processor issues they are flagged before using the funds. Considering changing the max load on my gc's to $500 max from $1k, if something gets locked close into a trip at least I'd still have a chunk of funds to work with.
ThisOne thing I stopped doing was combining my gift cards until necessary. I keep track of the individual info (purchase date, #s, retailer, etc.) and then once I do combine cards I cut/paste that info below the card I combine them to. This was more of a loss prevention thing though, in case one particular card got hacked, not all my eggs would be in one basket. So I don't automatically combine anything until I have a purchase such as a runDisney registration in which I combine them the night before into just over the amount needed.
For trips, I pick a default card and just add other cards to it as I go to "refill" the default card. I find this helps me keep my spending a bit more in check...if I have to inconvenience myself for a few minutes, I can think "do I really need to spend all this money"
That said, I have yet to have any issues...knock on wood...
Thanks to threads and posts like this, I've also started verifying my cards after purchase and keeping all info on a spreadsheet. I normally just combine mine when I'm ready to make a payment to Disney. I do have one exception card that we'll be using for our food/spending on our Dec. 2025 trip that I'm adding to as we go so I can get our estimated food costs on one card.This.
I verify balances on all cards immediately after purchasing and enter the information from each card into a spreadsheet. But I won’t combine balances until just before 2026 MFs and AP renewals are due. The lone exception is I have already combined around $600 for spending during our Nov 2025 trip.
How do you think the card was compromised?I've been using gift cards since the start of the internet. This is the first time I've ever had an issue I think with a retail gift card (I HATE things like Vanilla gift cards and avoid them like the plague but that's a different matter).

I see that these are two $50 e-gift cards. How do people usually use them at a restaurant? Do you have to print them out? Can you use two or more cards at a time? Would the waiter be annoyed for us doing this? Sorry for the naive questions as I have never used these.Landry’s restaurant gift cards are back on sale at Costco! 74,99 for $100 value! Limit of 10
We found we had to print them out, because at our local Saltgrass (another of the many Landry’s restaurants) the server had to key in the number manually - there’s no code to scan. Disney GCs are much easier to use!I see that these are two $50 e-gift cards. How do people usually use them at a restaurant? Do you have to print them out? Can you use two or more cards at a time? I print them out for Yak & Yeti as they need to take them to the register and key in the card numbers. Servers are never annoyed at me. Fwiw you can combine with Landy's rewards if you have any, you can put tips on them, you can use multiple cards.I see that these are two $50 e-gift cards. Thanks to @havaneselover who posted this in the credit card section!!May 2 to 4 Sam's will have $200 Disney gift cards for $180 (limit 4).
Very exciting! I usually use it for PayPal and then convert to Disney GC.I just noticed that you can now redeem My Points and Swagbucks for Disney GC.
If it is anything like what happened during xmas time you will be out of luck. That is exactly what happened to me then.Darn it, I just bought 4 Sam’s 200 e-dgc early yesterday morning to knock out my upcoming trip balance and buy some LL’s, but I would happily grab a few more. I have the sinking feeling next weekend will be too soon for another purchase given purchase limits. Maybe since it’s a new month…?
Well, shucks. Not the end of the world, but woulda been nice to save that extra $!If it is anything like what happened during xmas time you will be out of luck. That is exactly what happened to me then.
Amex Offer for $20 off $60 at Walmart online only. Showing on personal plats. Don’t get excited if looking for gc, took them about 2 mins to cancel my order for DGCs. But if you gotta buy stuff, yay!
