You will appreciate this story , it was lost on my crowd at the dinner table. I had the spend $150 twice get $30 reward from Target. I also had an extra 5% birthday bonus. I did two transactions. First I did DGC’s totaling $150. Second transaction had some items I needed and a few GC’s for the kids for easter (taco bell, chik fila etc). When she totaled my purchase I saw the screen ask if I wanted to use (previous) rewards but she was chatting with a coworker. In my customer voice I said “no I dont want to use that and I need to get to $150.” She asked me why
I felt like telling her none of her dang* business but I said “I got a thing when I spend $150”. I grabbed a $25 DGC and handed it to her. She said, “you know, gift cards dont trigger these offers.” I know they do, you all know they do, I just said, ”sometimes they do sometimes they dont”. (Not my job to educate her on her job).
I was at $150.47. I asked the pre tax total and she said $150.47. Again, I know that is not correct. Have you ever been rung up and told “ your total is $150.47 plus tax”? NO, you have not.
I grabbed a $10 chick fila card and handed it to her. “You know, gift cards dont trigger these offers”.
“Sometimes they do, sometimes they dont”.
She looked at the new total and nothing happened, I guess she was expecting an instant discount or a GC to show up. “See I told you gift cards dont work”.
I showed such restraint. I payed then checked the app. Both $150 transactions had tracked and my $30 reward was in my account. I took the high road back to my car.
