NEW Disney Gift Card Deals and More.

Staples will have fee free Visa gift cards for the next 2 weeks, from 12/8/24 - 12/21/24. I was in my local Staples store yesterday and they had just restocked the shelves and even had an unopened package on top of the display.
I generally stock up at Office Max when they have chase offers and you make a small profit before factoring in the 5% from CIC cards and chase offers but that requires you to spend $600 which then in turn limits you to just those $600 as if you go over $999 it then means you have to go through the whole process of them typing your information in the system and praying the system doesn't lock up.

Staples is so much easier :)

Last year, they did this same deal the Thanksgiving week thru Cyber Monday (11/19 - 11/27), and then the weeks of 12/3 - 12/9 and 12/10 - 12/16. So it is pretty much the same this year except there is one less week between Thanksgiving and Christmas this year, which is why it ended up being 3 weeks in a row.

If it follows the pattern of last year (and there is no guarantee that it will), they will not have the deal again after next week.
Well, if they're turning it into a regular thing, that's lovely!! Makes sense about the 3 weeks in a row being related to the late Thanksgiving. Although, I don't remember if there was also a $15 in mid-November last year. It end up being 4 deals over 5 weeks (6 weeks?) which seems like a lot to me.

We had a Disney trip first week of December last year, so I likely don't remember because my trip timing meant that I couldn't earn/redeem some of those 12/2023 offers.

I have a practical logistics question: In the past, I’ve taken my $1k DGCs with me on vacation and paid off room charges at the end of the trip. But I am thinking this is a bit risky if I ever were to lose my wallet. So far my upcoming trip, I am thinking of writing all of my gift card numbers down (or taking photos of them) and only bringing empty cards. Then, just before I need to use them, I can transfer the funds to the empty cards through the website. Does this make sense? Any issues I should be aware of? Other than the website going down, I can’t think of any reason this wouldn’t work. Thanks for your advice!

That’s more or less what I do. I usually have about $1,200 in gift cards when I go. I’ll keep the majority of the balance divided up among several cards, and I’ll have one card that I carry with me, which will have a balance of around two to three hundred dollars. Obviously, if we have a big table service meal or something similar coming up, I’ll transfer the money accordingly. Or, you could just lock the cards in the safe, use your magic band to pay for everything, and then pay it off with a gift card when you check out.

Please explain. I get that there’s no fee, but I don’t get how you can save money with them. Are they discounted?

Is the BJs offer really this good right now ($93.99 for $100 GC)? Warning, I am not a current BJs member, but I might join again if it's really ~6% off (I thought this ended on black friday, but it currently shows like this on the page, but when I click view more, I can't see it, since I'm not a BJs member).

I always keep an empty card at home on my dresser or in a drawer. But I have it in my DGC wallet. If I lose or misplace my gift card while on vacation (think Epcot and constantly pulling it out to pay at the booths) I can immediately transfer the funds to the empty card that is safe back home. I have never had to do this though, knock on wood.

The only time I carried gift cards into the parks was when I stayed offsite. Otherwise, I would just charge to Magic Band and pay off my balance at the front desk with gift cards the night before we check out. They can always reverse any charges to credit cards. I usually check out the folio balance that day and put e-gift cards from Target to make up any difference.

No they are not discounted but if you have a chase ink cash card you get 5% back in Chase Ultimate reward points at Office Supply stores making it essentially 5% off if you wish to redeem the points at cash value.

So you just pay it once, at the end of the trip? I've always seen to do it daily, and that seems like a bit of a pain. If they've already charged your credit card on file, they just reverse the charges? We bought discounted GCs for our recent trip, no physical card, just had them scan the bar code on a phone. But if I could just use magic band and pay it off all at once that would be cool.

This is what I do but I also have them stored on my mac that I can easily transfer to another card if needed.

It depends on your balance I think when they will actually charge your CC. I generally go down after a few days or sooner if we have gone to Citricos.

We've charged everything to our MagicBands during our trip before then went to the lobby on the last night before midnight to pay off our balance. Then we just use cash or the physical gift card for anything we purchase for breakfast on our check-out day.

Once your account balance reaches $500 they will process a charge, I'm not sure what the reason is but this is seems to be a standard Disney figure, DCL operates the same way. So for every $500 you accumulate on your account they process charges that night.

You can also prepay with gift cards and establish a positive balance in your account. They essentially transfer the funds from the GC to your account at the hotel/ship and you begin working against that positive balance. If your trip ends before the positive balance is used up they will credit the funds back to the account in approximately 2 weeks.

I have had over $1,200 before with no charge. I thought it was $1,500? Maybe it depends on the resort you are staying at? I have only stayed Deluxe.

This is good to know! Thanks for this :)

I pay it just once at the end of the trip, the night before I check out. I do it when it's quiet, not when there is a huge crowd. They have usually charged my credit card on file a time or two, but they just reverse the charge when I ask them to. I do combine the DGCs in advance as much as possible so the poor CM isn't scanning a bunch of $25 or $50 cards into the system. But, do remember that once you combine you can't un-combine. I will also look at my folio a couple hours in advance and make up any shortfall with Target e-gift cards at a 5% savings to make up the difference. The Target gift cards are usually delivered to my email within an hour or two.

When in the parks, I will use my DGC for things like mobile ordering (that cannot be charged back to the room) but I still don't carry the physical card. I enter the gift card number into the notes section of my phone and cut and paste it when I do the mobile ordering. I've read that you can add a DGC to Apple Pay and use that, but it has to be one from the Disney Store. I'll also usually carry a physical card with me on my check-out day if we go into a park.

I don't know I've always been told $500, the only deluxe I've stayed at are DVC but as far as I know they've used the same $500 charging baseline. Now if you go crazy in a particular day like started the day at $400 and then accumulate another $600 in that day alone because of meals, shopping, whatever. That $1000 wouldn't process until that night, so it's not that they just process immediately at $500 they still only process nightly, they just look at the ending balance for that night.

I know for certain this was the case at Aulani in July as I had a billing issue that I needed to get resolved and I could see in the folio they were charging my card any night that the total ended above $500.

Sounds like a smart system, thanks! 👍

Hi all -- I have a Visa offer for 10% cash back on a Joann purchase, up to $25. Anyone know if 1.) Joann still sells third party gift cards and 2.) if buying one of those third party cards will trigger the 10% back?
