There's no way they're taking a loss on that many GCs which means even if that deal was at their cost price it's insane that other major retailers only have a few percentage points off as their normal sales. Assuming others like BJs and Sam's can get it at the same pricing as BB they should routinely be putting them on sale for at least 10% off. Unless they have to get some sort of permission from Disney for that...who knows the logistics.
I think most of us feel that pretty much everything in the world "should" be sold for at least a 10 - 20% discount, but that isn't going to happen.
There are many costs that go into the sale of these gift cards that you don't realize, including the company that delivers the egift cards (even the biggest companies are still using incomm or Blackhawk network to deliver their egift cards), the costs they incur for stolen gift cards, the costs for their customer service to handle problems with the gift cards.
The fact that we rarely even see 10% discounts on Disney gift cards (not to mention 15 - 20%) says the profit probably isn't that much at a 10% discount and it is not worth it for most stores to sell it at that rate.
