Hey, off topic question - does anyone remember the details of a Target deal from last week that was $5 off $20 (or was it $25) of groceries? I spent well the amount on Saturday and just noticed I did not get the $5 off, Wondering if there were some restrictions? Thanks!

Target related - I have a question.

How do the deals work that give back a $5 gift card with Target? I bought 4 personal care products which gave me a $5 gift card. But then I had a seperate charge for $5 on my Target Debit. Is that how those normally work?

This is how Target bills it's promotional GC offers. If you return every item you purchased, you still paid $5 for the GC and won't get that back. It's a way to prevent people from gaming the promotion. You'll notice everything you ordered was lowered a percentage totaling $5. You were not overcharged.

Yes, that’s exactly how it works. And you don’t have to spread out the purchases over several days, either. Order one set of $100 and $25 DGCs, as soon as they land in your Inbox you can order another set. As I posted above, the DGCs were coming so quickly that I had completed the 3 purchases in about 30 minutes. YMMV, of course.

I had this one also. But in addition to it I had something like spend $60 get $10 off. The grocery one didn't combine with that one (even though the household goods on DID combine with the spend $60 one). I had to do a separate order for just groceries to get that one to work. Any chance you also were trying to combine two offers?

You only need to have an original value of $120, the 5% discount can be removed from that total prior to check out and it will still trigger the $120 value spend.

Just be careful if you have a discount like $5 off, that is subtracted when calculating the $120. So if you have a mix of the Target Circle Card 5% and the $5 swim freebie, you have to do some math. Made that mistake!

The first day it went live it didn’t work at all. Then they deleted and readded it.

I usually put things into the cart on my app to make sure it works right though. I have noticed when things have buy one, get ones they don’t always play nice with the additional coupon.

So I used my Chase offer of 15% back at Aldi to buy an Aldi gift card a few weeks ago...but I found out when trying to use it today that Aldi gift cards can only be used with a regular cashier and not at self checkout. My Aldi has 10 self checkouts and 1 cashier line so every time I use the gift card I have to wait on a nice long line. It goes without saying that I will not be buying an Aldi gift card again, even at 15% off.

I probably would too, but maybe not. I'd look at it this way - I'd have to buy 3 times $150 in DGC, for $450. $40 in rewards divided by $450 = 8.3% savings. Add the 5% savings from the Target Circle Card, makes it 13%. It would depend on what my stash of DGCs looked like at the time and what I planned to do with it. For instance, if it was all for DVC dues and I already had more than enough, maybe not. But if we planned to use most of the stash to pay the balance on a Disney cruise and then needed to save for DVC dues, maybe so.

Yeah, the Aldi GC not working at self-checkout is definitely a bummer. There is one Aldi near me that does not have any self checkout lanes, so I tend to go to that one when spending my GC, because there is usually more than one cashier open.

Yes there were restrictions. To get ahead of it, I put everything in my cart online to see what would trigger and adjusted my shopping accordingly.

You can buy 1 x $500 if you want, that’s what I’ve done. Sometimes, I do 1 x $50 to test after the issues a few months back.

Apple? Nice. I was hoping for a deal since I promised my DD a new phone for her birthday but I may need to buy early since hers keeps acting up.

I have the shop 3 times at $120 to get $40 in circle rewards. Will an Apple at $100 and $25 Disney hit that or does the $10 Target card I’m getting on the Apple Card change things?
