FYI - if you’re *not already* a Best Buy Plus or Total member (i.e. if you’re basic level only), there is currently a promo available for a $25 Bonus Reward with purchase of either membership, through April 27. Not sure if this is a targeted or general offer.

I’m considering the Plus level for a net $25 as it seems members get better / more frequent offers on gift cards. But then I’d need to find something to spend the $25 reward on and not sure what I’d get since they discontinued carrying physical media

Thanks! I turned off push notifications from Best Buy but I looked under Member Deals and it's not there . I would definitely take advantage of this special since I missed the Best-Buy-Plus-A-Palooza a few weeks ago. I would eventually have found something to spend my $25 on, if only an Apple Watch band.

Maybe I'm missing something. I thought the DGC deal on Best Buy doesn't drop until 3/19?

@FoxC63 reported the deal on the $100 Disney card drops in the Best Buy app on 3/19.

@FoxC63 also shared with us another deal at Best Buy for Plus and Total Members of $50 cards for $45.

Howdy Friends and Happy Easter!

Thank you for asking! All is well in our corner of the world. Since we have no plans to vacation (maybe for a couple of years), we've been focusing on our homestead in northern Michigan while maintaining our home in SE Michigan.

This past March, 30-31 there was a devastating ice storm that took out power, closed roads, businesses and of course took down a ton of trees affecting forests, parks and business. This during Maple Syrup production in several areas. Just another huge blow to local farmers.
We lost a majority of our 40-50 year old pine trees that lined our property. The tops just snapped from the weight. We also lost a maple tree which was planted by the original owner in memory of his late wife. I'm not 100% sure how old it was, maybe 50+? It was never tapped.
We couldn't make it towards the back end of the property to check on the creek or the remaining 3 acres. It just wasn't safe as that's where the majority of our "other" trees are located. Just beautiful in the fall.
We'll go back sometime next week.


Otherwise, staying busy planting our veggie garden, taking care of the pups and participating in church activities. 14 Stations of the Cross 'Jesus is Judged by Pilate’ DH is Pilate and DS (back view) is Peter.

I'm definitely in need of help, we'd like to get our son the newest version of Switch 2 for his birthday but I haven't been keeping up with all the deals, are there any out there? I know it's a pre order.

@DavidNYC has updated on his gc locked saga. Appears his most recently purchased card was tagged as compromised. Having been combined onto his main card, the entire main card was locked.

Might be a good idea to make sure I have all the money on the gc for LLs a few weeks before it's needed so if there is any processor issues they are flagged before using the funds. Considering changing the max load on my gc's to $500 max from $1k, if something gets locked close into a trip at least I'd still have a chunk of funds to work with.

I've been using gift cards since the start of the internet. This is the first time I've ever had an issue I think with a retail gift card (I HATE things like Vanilla gift cards and avoid them like the plague but that's a different matter).

If you're careful, and don't do stupid things like by them from some unknown seller off ebay, you're going to be fine 99.9% of the time but someone will always either find a way or you get hit with some glitch. Typically, these issues are going to arise quickly as mine did. I just got unlucky with the timing - if it was frozen 2 days earlier or 4 days later I'd still have to deal with it but the LL wouldn't have been affected. If you're purchasing a card yourself at a legitimate outlet, and don't see any indications of card tampering, I think you're going to be fine. But next time I'm buying . . . if I thought I'd have other uses for whatever I have on the gift card while there I'd probably play it safe and put it on my other cards!

I was doing that for a while, just felt better having less on each card for various reasons. Will likely go back to that after we pay off our cruise next month.

One thing I stopped doing was combining my gift cards until necessary. I keep track of the individual info (purchase date, #s, retailer, etc.) and then once I do combine cards I cut/paste that info below the card I combine them to. This was more of a loss prevention thing though, in case one particular card got hacked, not all my eggs would be in one basket. So I don't automatically combine anything until I have a purchase such as a runDisney registration in which I combine them the night before into just over the amount needed.

For trips, I pick a default card and just add other cards to it as I go to "refill" the default card. I find this helps me keep my spending a bit more in check...if I have to inconvenience myself for a few minutes, I can think "do I really need to spend all this money"

That said, I have yet to have any issues...knock on wood...
