Albertsons/Safeway brand points users, check if your redemption options are changing. My brand Acme Markets is eliminating the fuel points starting May 1. It may be they are getting out of fuel partners, or could be just getting out of the Exxon partnership, or might be just Acme changing. I can't find updates on the websites yet, just an email:

Update to our rewards program
After April 30, ACME for U™ members will no longer be able to redeem Points at Exxon and Mobil stations. Points can still be redeemed in all other ways:

Save with your Points: 1. Automatic cash off: Automatically convert every 100 Points into $1 cash off. 2. Grocery rewards: Get free grocery items and discounts.

A blow as 1000 points would have gotten us the max $1 off a gallon of fuel, up to 25 gallons, so a max of $25 in value. Now at best, if they maintain the current rewards, is $15 off groceries.

So for us 1000 points was at least $19 in savings (a tank's worth). In the current rewards options 1200 points gets you $20 off groceries.

The Albertson's here in NM are starting to add fuel stations (like Smith's). The first on near us is set to open in September.

Interesting offer at Meijer that I have not seen before: 10,000 mPerks points when you purchase at least $30 of stuff using the Shop & Scan function in the Meijer app. Shop & Scan means you walk around the store scanning all your items into the app and then use self-checkout to finish up. Gift and prepaid cards, among other things, are excluded from the $30 minimum. You can do this twice (but only once per day) up to March 29.

Just a heads-up, 2nd quarter Discover Card 5% cash back bonus category is Grocery Stores & Wholesale Clubs.

So for April through July, purchasing DGC at Sam's or BJ's will get you a bit of a boost using your Discover Card.

Wow....much better than the one I earned last week: get 2,500 points for a S&S trip of $40.

My BJs renewal is coming up soon. This was my first year with BJs and I really love it as a supplement to Costco so I do want to stay. Of course this is the year the membership prices go up! Are there any tricks to beating the full price renewal or am I in a take it or leave it type situation?

I can’t remember where but I found some coupon/promo code and was able to renew for $60 or $65 after they went up. Sometimes new stores open and and you can use there promos

I’ve heard that you can sometimes get a discount by asking about renewal promotions at the service desk, but have not personally done this. May work for you especially since this would be your first renewal. I’m thinking they would like to capture anyone “on the fence”.

One year one of the BJ's employees told me to go ask at the desk to get a discounted renewal. I did and got it, think they charged me either $25 or 30. The next year I tried again and was told no. Not sure if there were any promo's the first year. So I told him that I was not going to renew for full price and he let me walk. I had received a coupon for a $20 membership, for new memberships, in the mail in one of those coupon packets and I took it in a couple weeks later just after my membership expired. I used a different email and was able to sign up. I have to renew again this summer hope to get another coupon and will go back to my original email.

I've done it before. Super easy. I usually don't do it for a cart full, just when I need a few things. I have the offer on 1 account, the 2nd mperks account does not have the offer.

Saw a random 5% off coupon for being a RedCard holder in my Target account, exp 3/8

ETA: no coupons don't work on gc but the deal stacks with RedCard discount

I've done it once or twice. You scan each item's barcode into Shop & Scan. For certain items like fruit, you get a barcoded label from the fruit-weighing scale and then scan that. Sam's Club has something similar. Another plus for Meijer is that stores usually have a separate self-checkout for these orders which often has very few customers there, so you save some time.

If you do it early in the cycle, you might be able to get 8 = 4 x 2. For my last round of $200 x 4 at Sam's it took my account 12 weeks to reset till I could order the 2nd round of 4.
