NEW Disney Gift Card Deals and More.

That’s just part of reason in addition to my friends unexpected loss of her job at Federal agency.
Oh no! I have several friends that are in similar situations, even more unexpected as they were in sections that most people thought would be safe with this started for various reasons. I just pray all these cuts don't lead to some horrible disaster down the line. Don't get me wrong, all for preventing waste fraud and abuse, nothing wrong with that.....but....I also would hate to see another horrible event happen as well. Also just sad to see all these peoples lives thrown into chaos on a whim.

To get back to what this thread inherently does; grateful for the posts to help each other save. I echo others comments about uncertainty moving forward so please continue to share savings in all the ways. Helping each other out is the heart of this thread.
Unfortunately nothing at my go-to's of Dollar General or Target this week.

I’m thinking of canceling our Xmas Disney trip in 2025. I’m Dvc and exploring renting out a confirmed ressie or just the points. The amount I’m spending this year on our other trips makes me cringe. I have like 160+ banked points that I’d lose by Feb 2026 so need to use or lose.

We are heading to Asia for almost 2 months this summer. Worried about the strength of the dollar. Worried about another pandemic (bird flu) and boarders shutting against the United States bc CDC is a mess and pandemic ppl are no longer working or morale is low.

Flight tickets are 10k alone (4ppl @ $2.5k pp) so not going to or can’t cancel. Even if I could, we are committed bc last chance to fly out as a family (son in 9th grade and after this summer it’s internships or sat studying etc— college stuff) Airbnb already booked. There’s only 4 days of hotel in Japan and 7 days in Taiwan that’s subject to local currency. But we still have to eat. And Tokyo Disney.

Our trip to Denver (breckenridge) is mid march and set. It’s going to be $$ (ski school for kids). But it’s next month.

My biggest fear is our Asia trip. On so many levels. Pandemic shut down Japan of Taiwan closing its borders to the US (which they did in 2020) + inflation. I’ve got $20k already down before hotels and food costs. I need to buy insurance…. Thx for the reminder!!!!!!

Oh yes, DH in academic medicine. So far his NIH grants won’t affect him personally but it’s another reason to go into private practice (research to help the field is so overrated and underpaid, so with the NIH getting butchered….). Also congress cut Medicaid/medicare payments yet again. Insurance is denying upwards of 33% (UHC) of pre-approvals etc. So things are just overall one big worry for me.

Thank you for giving me a venue to vent ;). Now onto researching travel insurance!!!
If you are worried about the dollar then if you have available funds consider if it is worth locking in the currency. I locked in our Japan costs back when the yen was around 157 since I had available cash I got an YEN ETF to lock in my price since we wont go until July.

A YEN etf?

A few days back I was lamenting the fact that I did not have enough DGCs for the trip I just got back from. Was able to go on GCX and find DGCs at slightly over 5% and purchase them with my BOA cash rewards that also gives me 5% on online purchases and then transfer those to a physical card I had. Was a nice last minute emergency workaround to not having any gift cards available.

Sure beats the alternative!

I was looking around and it seems that the former raise-dot-com is now GCX? Is that accurate?

Yes! And honestly lately they have been blowing out gift cards of even major retailers. Right now you can get Delta gift cards at over 12% off for your flights...I have plenty of Delta points otherwise I'd jump on those for future travel. Pair it with a card like the BOA cash rewards and you really do well. Also works great as a way to meet spend for a SUB especially AMEX cards that are notorious for not allowing gift card purchases from grocery stores and retailers to count. I highly recommend!

⏰⏰EVERYONE- This is a gift card re-sale site PROCEED WITH CAUTION⏰⏰

GC on this site sometimes come from the source, usually come from 3rd parties. Often those 3rd parties get their gc through fraud. When the gc eventually gets flagged for fraud it is immediately shutdown.

Disney- when a gc is flagged for fraud every gc that it was combined with is shutdown. Every gc on the online disney gc login is shutdown. It doesn't matter if you are mid-trip you're donezo. It will be weeks back and forth with Disney security as you produce every receipt showing you validly purchased every gc load. You obviously won't get the fraudulent funds back having purchased them 3rd party but you will eventually get your other funds back if you kept proper records.

Starbucks- do not combine with your sbux gc! your whole account could get locked if your gc is found to have been stolen

No way on this planet would I buy an airline gc, if those funds are found to be fraudulent the airline could cancel your ticket.

ETA: This is an excellent time to review Post #5 on page 1 on combining and protecting your gift cards LINK

Thanks for this info! I was very new to the gift card purchasing game and used this website (many years ago) to purchase 1 Disney GC and it had no money on it. Fortunately, it was just a $25 GC and I got everything refunded but that was the last time I ever used a website like this for Disney GC's.

I prefer the smaller discount from places like Sam's Club and BJ's Wholesale Club and the security that comes with these purchases. I've also used the tips from this forum to track all gift card purchases, receipts, etc. so I've got everything I need if something happens.

Thanks for bringing situations like this to other people's attention :)

I was not aware of the combining with a fraudulent card aspect. Thank you for bringing that to my attention. All I can say about GCX (Raise.com before that) is that I've used them since 2014 and very often and have PERSONALLY never had a problem. I may just be lucky in that regard and I'm sure there have been and are fraudulent gift cards on the site. And I know they have a guarantee but of course that wouldn't help if combined with your legit cards and then the whole amount gets frozen as you pointed out. So proceed with caution of course.

I will say I buy cards from the site as needed and use them as soon as possible. When I was buying the Disney GCs I bought only what I needed at the moment and then loaded that to the card. I personally wouldn't buy huge denominations if I can avoid it and I try not to make speculative purchases either. Although there are a few cards I purchased even a few years ago that I successfully used after much time had elapsed. I'm glad you put the warning out though and erring on the side of caution in this game is always the prudent move!

Joann’s didn’t find a buyer. If you had a store sparred from the recent mass closures, you don’t. All stores will be closing.

Bummed, it’s my go to for cute seasonal socks…
Also, if you have a Joann's gift card, the last day it can be used is 2/28/25. I'm disappointed, I've shopped there ever since middle school.

Sorry if this was discussed already, been on a trip and a bit out of the loop. Anyone have trouble using egift cards via Apple Wallet bought from Shop Disney recently? I had a lot of trouble this past week, probably 25% of the time the CM would scan my DGC from apple wallet and they'd get some sort of error on their end. At the festival booths, a few of them were able to get by it by having me go to a different cashier or trying a different DGC (I had a few). At Docking Bay she couldn't get it to work at all and was convinced I had a merch gift card and not a regular gift card...I just paid with a card as I was holding up the line and then it worked just fine the next time I used it. So weird! I've never had any issues on prior trips and it wasn't a big deal but curious if this has happened to anyone else.

Edit: I had no issues with using the GC numbers for mobile ordering or mobile checkout, seemed to be an issue with them scanning the barcode from Apple Wallet. I've been moving away from swiping physical DGCs the last couple of trips and using the barcode in AW instead.
