NEW Disney Gift Card Deals and More.

I know I have strongly contemplated staying in Japan this year and leaving my job. I am just unsure on a lot of things. So yes, and no haha.

Also with them going after the department of education I am very concerned that my salary will continue to stagnate in comparison with everything else....as if we aren't far enough down the salary comparison as it is....so even for family vacations, yes we are trimming back. Actually just realized the reality of this as we had to make the call a few days ago that this would be the first year in 5 years that we will not be going to a Disney park.

Yeah our teachers - totally blows man. You and @CookieandOatmeal , wow.
If you did move back, could you get a job easily in Japan teaching or anything else on your plate?

I got spend $120 four times get $40 for my Target offer. I wasn't sure I was going to attempt it but had to buy some things at Target anyhow. I bought $80 worth of stuff I needed and planned on picking up a DGC to get me over the $120. To my surprise, there were no DGC in the store for purchase. Hopefully that's not a trend....

How often should I be checking for them? Or do you get a notification? The only reason I even think to look is when one (or more) of you kind folks lets us know you got them.

I got an email that said I have coupons to use - whenever I get that email (seems almost weekly) - I check, but most of the time the coupons are for specific items.

Thanks! Guess I need to change my communications settngs. I only get a booklet in the mail.

Got a BJ's coupon for $10 off of $150.

Of course I could of used it yesterday when I was there! But at least I'm only a couple miles from 2 BJ's.

Have You Heard :crazy2:

Our popular Daily Getaways has been discontinued for 2025 & beyond. Danny Deal Guru posted about this back on January 2, 2025. I like other DealVengers, have been too busy to keep up with all things changing in the travel industry.

We don't typically fly with Spirit Airlines but if you do, are you aware of their new Dress Code? Lastly, be mindful ALL airlines have been cracking down on Carry-On Luggage

The dress code states "see-through clothing; not adequately covered; exposed breasts, buttocks, or other private parts." This is NOT something I will need to be concerned about.
No matter where I am flying I am layered up, otherwise I will freeze on that plane! Also, who wants their bits touching any part of an airplane?

Awww man....you mean I have to return my recently acquired stormtrooper booty shorts? Just at the almost but not quite pre beginning blizzard of swimsuit season?

At Disney now and for first time was not adequately prepared with gift cards. It’s been hurting to use my CC to pay. I got excited when I saw both our accounts got the 90x2 target circle offers but alas…I don’t have my red card as they need the full number typed in every single time as most of you already know. I’m contemplating just purchasing using my BOA cash rewards card to pseudo 5% red card discount it but at this point may just keep paying with AMEX gold for the 4x MR points.

We really need GC.com to offer another great deal so we can hit it hard!

With all these layoffs/firings/closures/tariffs, anyone second guessing whether taking a vacation is a good idea, possibly taking a wait & see approach?

We decided last year to not travel in 2025 with anticipation of staying in Japan 2026 for 3 weeks, maybe four, but that is becoming a wait & see for us. I've already purchased a few MC/Visa for stateside travel, I'm thinking of holding off for the remainder of the year until we know more.
We are scaling back for sure. My job at the University where I work is grant funded. So far I've been okay, but who knows for how long. Currently concentrating on maximizing cash back rather than accumulating points or discounted GCs. I guess I shouldn't be sad I didn't get a Target Circle offer this round, lol!

Normally we travel a lot. This year we're cancelling several weekend trips and won't be making a big trip at the end of the year as usual (last year we went to Japan, year before went to Italy...). But we are keeping a DCL Hawaii Cruise we have in September because it's for my MIL and her health is declining. Hawaii is on her bucket list so we'll still do that, at least we'll still have something to look forward to.

I teach in one of the states in the northeast so I’m not as nervous as I would be if I were in a Midwest or southern state but the fear of the unknown is definitely nerve wrecking. I am definitely looking to cut costs everywhere we can though. Just so much uncertainty.

We’re retired so coming from a slightly different angle. Instead of worrying about job cuts, it’s concern about the stock market if tariffs go thru, changes to SS & Medicare (not convinced they won’t be touched). We have good retirement accounts, as long as the market holds up & I do have a private pension. But it’s discouraging that after almost 5 decades of working, we have to worry about the economy within a few years of retiring. We were beginning to plan our first trip to Europe for later this year with my sister. Just told her yesterday I am getting concerned about traveling out of the country. But it’s as much the political climate & how US citizens will be received as it is economic. We have WDW trips planned for May & September which we’ll keep at this point. But it feels very bizarre to me to be planning vacations when so many others are losing their jobs. :sad1:

My target offer is spend $100 x3 for $30 rewards. I’m not sure yet if I’ll meet the spend. I don’t mind getting some other gcs along with Disney ones. Just wondering if I skip a few of I’ll get some that need less spending.

No BJs coupon this time. But in January I had both a $10 off any purchase & a $20 off $250 that I used. Same thought process here too… don’t want to keep spending big amounts too often.

Edit to correct my Target spend requirement.

Just watch embassy warnings, if there are protests against Americans in the country they notify you. Other than that don’t worry about it. We are the center of our world but to the rest of the world we’re just another far off country, locals may or may not even have an opinion about American politics. They generally know who the American president is and that’s about it as they are busy living their own lives. You’re said retired- tbh you need to travel while you can. As I watch my parents age, my Dad recently took a bad fall, and see their travel options dwindle I’m glad for the trips we do take- and they have no regrets about any trip they’ve taken!

As far as feeling bad traveling as others lose their jobs- you did your time!! You absolutely deserve it.

My first thought was, "Thank goodness Bianca Censori doesn't fly Frontier."
