So with all of the new dining options opening up that seem to be beginning in time for the holiday season, do you think it is just simply Disney realizing that some meals or parks were lacking options and that they could actually pull in more revenue if they opened up existing venues for new meals or do you think it is because this upcoming holiday is going to be crazily busier that the usual crazy busy and they have seen that ADRs are scarce for booking already? Or something else all together.

I mean we have Sci Fi breakfast, Be Our Guest Breakfast, Narcossees brunch, Garden Grill breakfast, Liberty Tree re-opening and the new Adventureland supposedly opening, a couple of Downtown Disney venues sceeduled to open, I believe the one in Animal Kingdom (adjacent to Pizzafari) is supposed to be completed soon...that's is quite a bit of "new" dining for one small timeframe really.

I think there's just a lot of expansion going on. Sci Fi has done breakfast the last two SWW seasons. I would imagine the decision was based on their success and a lack of breakfast options at HS that are not character/qs oriented.

I hope that's it...just a lot of coincidences...I am prepared for crowds more crazy than we have ever experienced but I am hoping I come back relieved because I prepared for it...all these extras (especially the venues already in place but adding meals) has me a little concerned. I guess I'll know in 92 more days... :santa:

Well it's already the busiest time of year and generally is booked to capacity so it can't really get too much worse because there's no room.

If you've spent any time on the Dining forum over the last year or so, you've read the countless complaints over lack of ADR availability in some of the parks. It's not just during the peak crowd times. So opening up breakfast and lunch in restaurants that previously were closed for those meals increases availability and reduces the strain on dinner. As for Disney Springs restaurants, that's just part of their expansion program.

Yep... I do spend a lot of time on the dining forum...I do know of people's complaints about how difficult it is to get an ADR at certain times at certain places. Been around for years here and going to Disney longer than that.

I was just wondering "aloud" though because I do not remember a time when there was such an increase in all the same, small time frame...

And while Disney does pole visitors and I am sure in some way keeps track of some boards and the popular opinions therein, I am not sure their major changes are made because a bunch of people on a message board complain.

So I was just wondering what others thought was behind it.

I think it is mostly a coincidence...that plans for multiple projects came together at the same time as closings of others and it all just happens to be centered around the end of 2015...but I am also hoping it is not because this year bookings for over Christmas are out the roof!

Ah yes, the ever present CMs with their tablets and their "Hi, there, can iI ask you a few questions...." ;)
I'm sure they keep up to speed on popular opinion via polls and social media, but what may be more important to them are their occupancy statistics. They know exactly how full their restaurants are running, and if they've had a sustained shortage of tables. Its a lot cheaper for them to add the extra meals at existing restaurants than build new ones. The fact that they're building ( even though it's actually just a refurb of an existing building) Skippers Canteen shows that they do have a restaurant shortage at MK. They wouldn't do that just for a short term peak in attendance.
