What is the new dining cancel policy again, please? And do different restaurants have different policies? I.e. more popular restaurants 24 hour cancel or something like that?

Tia...

It's pretty much any character meal and then a few others. I know Ohana is one b/c I had to give CC when I reserved. If you don't cancel 24 hours ahead of time then you are charged $10 per person.

As a basic rule in effect no, any new or changed reservation at a signature restaurant or a character meal will require a $10 per person guarantee ($25 at V&A). If you are a no-show, or you cancel less than 24 hours out, you forfeit the deposit.

It appears that if part of your group shows up for the meal even though people are missing the deposit will not be forfeited.

. . . . , or you cancel less than 24 hours out, you forfeit the deposit.

I've not read the monster thread for a couple weeks now. Have we confirmed whether it's "24 hours" or "the day before"? Seems almost everyone had been assuming it was the former, but all the official stuff I've seen from Disney only says "within one day". That can be interpreted more than one way.

(Yes, a day *is* 24 hours, but when we talk about making reservations at 180 days, for example, we just mean which day, and not the time of day.)

In other words, can a Wednesday lunch be cancelled on Tuesday night, or do you need to cancel by lunch time Tuesday?

People seem to be getting a different answer from each CM every time they call. Some say it's 24 hours before your meal, others say a full business day ahead (i.e. two days ahead), nothing is known for certain until there starts to be first-hand accounts from people being charged.

I know it was that way at Cali Grill last time I ate their and was OK with it. If I am having a special dinner I don't mind paying if I do not show up. I was actually surprised that I was not charged with the $10 when I made the reservation in the first place!

Yes, the "two days ahead" was another version folks had been saying, but it's hard to imagine they would be *that* strict.

We'll all keep our ears to the ground. (Fortunately, my February trip was taken care of long ago, and we'll likely not be back before 2013.)

Closing this as there is a full thread on the cancellation policy on the Dining Reservations board, which has been linked to.

The first post of that thread has all the official info (and some unofficial).
