Do you think they would charge you the $15 extra for a requested area if you didn't request it on your ressie but faxed a room request?
Just curious.

If you trying to get into one of the preferred locations at the All-Stars, you probably won't get one, unless you booked a preferred room. The preferred category doesn't begin at CBR until next year, but then if you really want to be in those sections, you'll probably have to reserve it specifically as well.

They won't charge you more because you requested it in a fax. They just won't give you your request. They will put you in a room that fits what your reservation calls for.

There's a possibility they could upgrade you upon request at check in to the preferred locations but faxing a request for it will do you no good.

When we were at ASMo in Oct., we had booked a non preferred room, which actually are few and far between there it seems...Anyway, we got Toy Story, which is a preferred wing, without asking or anything. That's just where they put us....Hope you get lucky!!!

Toy Story is not considered Preferred at All Star Movies. Only the Fantasia building are preferred and cost an additional $10.00.

True, the Toy Story buildings are popular and requested frequently. But they do not cost more to stay there.

That would be the equivalent of booking a standard view room and sending a fax requesting a water view. You may get upgraded, you may not.

It could be interperted as a request to change your reservation (PAID upgrade). I think a fax asking specifically for a free upgrade would be ignored.

I did my reservations online and in the "things that would make your trip more magical" comment box I put which building I prefer. Has anyone tried this?

Thanks for the replies. I was actually refering to WL and which
floor or side of building I would prefer. Would that still be considered
an upgrade?

I'm confused. We have ressies at CBR for our first trip to WDW August of 2004. When I booked I asked the CM that we wanted two connecting rooms in Martinique building (26?) I booked back in January before they established this " Preferred Building" thing. We got the rack rate of $144 per night (waiting for codes). My question is, will I have to call CRO and make new ressies for a preferred building now or since I booked prior to this new thing I won't have to pay the additional $15?

There are no "preferred" views at WL. Rates are based on standard, woods or courtyard view along with room type. As long as your requests are available with the view you paid for there wouldn't be any extra charges. For example, a view of the main pool isn't possible with a standard view room.

I agree with others that have said if you request anything that is above and beyond what you reserved and paid for, chances are you won't get the request. Room requests such as you mentioned aren't "upgrades" and there is no additional charge for them, but they aren't guaranteed either.

When you booked your ressies, the rates for 2004 weren't released yet. They were just released earlier this week. If you want a room in Martinique, you'll have to pay for a preferred location now. When you book ressies before the rates are released, you're booked at the 2003 regular season rate, and your rate gets adjusted as the new rates are released. For 2004, it seems like Disney didn't raise rates, but did introduce the new pricing structure for CBR. Since you're currently booked in a standard room, that's what you'll get, unless you upgrade to a preferred location room.

Again, if you've booked a standard view at WL, and are asking for a particular wing, then no there wouldn't be an upgrade charge, since you'd still be in a standard room. If you're trying to get a courtyard view, then either your request would be denied, or you could request it at check-in for an additional fee.

Can someone explain what this is about? I have not heard anything about "preferred rooms" we are staying at CBR in August. I was going to request Martinique or TrindiadN. How does this work?

Beginning in 2004, Disney will charge an extra $15 per night for rooms in these buildings just as they now charge an extra $10 per night for the preferred buildings at the All Stars.

It will not effect your stay in August.

When we booked our room they told us that Toy Story was preferred. We booked through AAA, maybe it's preferred through them? Anyway, we were told that just about everything was preferred except for Love Bug and Mighty Ducks, which are the furthest away from Cinema Hall.

I heard lots of stories about people being told Toy Story was preferred. I've never been told this, myself, and when I stay at Movies I usually request Toy Story.

Toy Story and Dalmatians are as good as if not better than Fantasia, as far as proximity to the bus stops and food court. I think the best spot at Movies is in the Buzz Lightyear building.

The Fantasia buidlings were the only "prefered" building last time I check.

Also requests are just that requests, not garenteed. We requested Dalamation, they put us in Toy Story. And I think the guy doing our check was new, because he cancelled our room to check for Dalmation, then lost our original room, because there was nothing in Dalmation. Then put us in a smoking room, we needed nonsmoking. Then we ended up back with Toy Story. (my suggestion take what they give you).

Remember, you did not reserve Martinique for your trip next year. You made a REQUEST that you be placed in that building. Requests are Never guaranteed. Cast members do their best to meet requests, but it is not always possible.

The reason that Disney makes these buildings preferred is that everyone asks for them. Now that Martinique is becoming a prefered building, then you will have to pay the $15.00 a night to stay there. If you do not wish to pay the charges, you will be assigned to another buidling because Disney never promised to put you there. Those guests paying the fee will receive those rooms.

Is it jusdt the 2 "islands"closest to Old Port Royale that will be considered preferred?
