Hi, I was just wondering if anyone here has any info regarding the rumours of a new character breakfast at MGM.

Have heard that it is aimed more at boys, and that it will be Pixar related, but I was wondering if anyone had any "official" information about it or could suggest a way that I could find out.

Am currently planning some of our dining ready for July, and would love to be able to include this. I'm sure DS would be thrilled. :earsboy:

Thanks, Sara. :flower:

One the dining board there is a thread that says someone was in H&V at MGM and that they were told (boy this is a rumor laden post)... that in April there would be a breaskfast there, Breakfast and Beyond, with characters from Toy Story.

Just gone and found the link....

Will go and check it out now. Thanks.

I think it is just rumour, but a rumour with lots of signs that it will come true ... like the casting auditions etc.

Let's hope so. I think this would be an excellent addition to the WDW character meal repertoire :flower:

Hi there,
I saw the disney audition info as well (always fantasisng about being in a parade me :flower: ) for Sarge from Toy Story. Would be great to have this at MGM to counteract princess overload in MK and EPCOT,

I hope this turns out to be true. A character breakfast with boys more in mind is what Disney is lacking and we would certainly be booking it.

Us too Jools :)

We loved the old Character meal at the H&V anyway and to have a new one - with Toy Story characters - would just be the icing on the cake for us :)

The allears newsletter are reporting about this, here's what they have to say:

"...from Michelle Myers: While dining at Hollywood & Vine, my server told me that around April 1 the restaurant is starting a new character dining experience -- for boys! "Breakfast and Beyond" will feature Buzz, Woody, the green soldiers, and others
that I can't remember."

talk about sexism...a "breakfast with boys in mind"

when my daughter was little she HATED princesses and anythng having to do with them and never ever ever dressed up as one...

on the other hand i am sure she would have loved the toy story breakfast....

I don't think it is going to be just for families with boys, but maybe a bit more appealing to boys than say a princess breakfast! ;)

Although my DD loves the princesses - she had a fabulous time at CRT in 2004 - she would also love, , love to meet all the Toy Story crew at a breakfast meal!

This would give everyone a bit more choice and variation for us repeat visitors. :wizard: I also think this will maybe get more families with boys only :earboy2: to attend character meals, too! They have promoted the princess meals and added to the choices there for quite a while (CRT, Norway's princess meals, Cinderella's Gala Feast at GF), hope this helps to balance it out a bit! :teeth:

what i was saying is that the phrase "meal with boys in mind" is sexist....
how extraordinarily non-pc to say something like that about anything in the US....

as for current meals, there are several that are unisex - donald's breakfast at AK is unisex, as is the winnie the pooh breakfast at the chrystal palace...
and as a former commander in the army, i'm sure my daughter will enjoy mixing it up with sarge at the toy story breakfast...

We've seen Sarge and the Toy Soldiers walking around at MGM a couple of times, ordering the crowd about and signing autographs. They were really funny and my two boys loved them. It would be a really good character breakfast. Just a shame it's not on till April....

Yes!!!!!!! I am going to be there for the first 2 weeks of April- hopefully it could be running if the rumours are true!!!!!

If it is Caroline we'll be hoping to hear all about it :thumbsup2

Does anybody have any idea when they will start taking bookings for this?

We have just booked our flights for June and are in the process of deciding all the Character meals we want to do.

Thanks

Jackie

I would guess as soon as WDW announce it and then normal ADR rules would apply - so you would be okay now to book June :)

I totally agree - many character meals are aimed at all children of all ages. :teeth: Thing is, they've added/changed many of the ones that appeal mostly to girls in the past few years and haven't done the same for boys. They even stopped the previous H&V character meals which were "unisex" and seemed popular when we were there... :confused3

I think lots of boys (of a certain age) would think themselves "too cool" to attend the meals with Pooh and friends at Crystal Palace, but maybe wouldn't mind mixing with Buzz, Woody, et al.

Of course, it a girl's perogative to be a princess: or a pirate: if she so desires!

Any addition (especially those offering more than the usual characters) seems like a great idea to me! :thumbsup2 :woohoo:

Forget about the kids (as if! ;) ) I'd love to do this one! :thumbsup2
