New Carpet????

Our carpets are getting dogged!! The kids have stained it with nailpolish, lipstick, syrup, marker, etc. We bought a steamer and it helps a little but not enough. I am thinking about getting new carpet when we get our tax return. Then again, is that just asking for trouble while the kids are little? Should I just endure the old carpeting until the kids are a little older and then replace it?
