Hello fellow Disers,

I am going back to the world in August and I have just recently purchased a new camera. I bought a Kodak easyshare max L990 with 30x optical zoom and lots of buttons that I just don't understand or know how to use. I want to do a dining review when I go down and want to take great food shots as well as other great vacation memory photos. I am asking for any help I can get as to what settings to use to get those wonderfully crisp focused pictures that I see here on the boards all the time. I am tired of my out of focus lack luster pics. Anyone, can you please help me? Any advice would be better than the information I have now. Thanks in advance.

Hi,
I assume you are asking how to take a food close-up with the camera? The camera has several different focus modes. If you are going to be taking a picture of a subject that is between 4 inches and 32 inches from the lens then you should put the camera into Macro AF mode. Macro allows you to take picture closer up.

There is a button on the top right of the camera with a flower icon that controls the focus mode.

I would recommend you read through the manual. Most of the time I would leave the camera in the Smart Capture mode. This is the fully automatic mode

They have a good online edition at: http://resources.kodak.com/support/pdf/en/manuals/urg01212/Z990_xUG_GLB_en.pdf

Hope this helps,
Steve

Thank you so much. I have been playing with the settings after reading the manual, to find out what I can do with it. This information will help, thank you very much.:thumbsup2
