Don't underestimate the dent that tipping will put into your budget. Consider the tips for the bellhops ($1 per bag), the housekeeping ($1-$2 per person per day), and the waitstaff at restaurants (15%-20% of the before-tax bill).

Parking will cost you a few $$ for the days when you are not an onsite guest. Current costs are $8 per day.

Make sure that the Clarion Maingate does not tack on a resort fee when you check in. They can add up sometimes. It could be as much as $10 per night at some resorts.

Remember to fill the gas tank on that rental vehicle. They will charge you an outrageous fee if they have to add gas when you return it. The cost of gasoline in the area was in the $1.89/gal range for regular when we were there last week.

I think that your ticket estimate is a little on the light side. With tax, 3 3-day/3-park adult passes and one child's pass will run you close to $625. And those are today's prices. They could possibly go up between now and December.

Good luck with the airfare. I'm not sure what the average rate is from your area. Rates in Philly tend to be much lower now that Southwest has begun flying from here. They used to be in the $169-$200 range before taxes and fees.

Otherwise, things look pretty good. I love WDW in early Dec. You should have a great time!

thanks mad4themouse and welcome back! -
have you posted a trip report yet? i was hoping to get a reply from you, but i thought you were still in the world :)

thanks again......

If you are willing to fly out of O'hare you could probably get a great rate from Spirit airlines. We are a family of 6 and our total airfare R/T in January is $877.00. At certain hotels near the airport you can stay one night and leave your car there for the week. I think it will be about $100. Still way cheaper than leaving from Milwaukee. We are in Brookfield so we are a little south of you, but it may be worth a look.

Hi Misty89!
We got back on Sunday night. I've been unpacking and doing laundry the past couple of days in addition to taking care of a sick dog. (I think the in-laws fed him something they shouldn't have and he's been running for the door every hour or so.) The trip was great and I'll post my report as soon as I have it together. I spent wayyy more than I should have but it was worth every dime.
