So, I have loved Bon Jovi since I was a goofy teenage girl who though Jon Bon Jovi was soooooo hot. So, I was psyched to hear that they were doing an acoustic album of their greatest hits. The CD came out today, so I went to Best Buy and bought it.

I'll just say that there's $12 and an hour of my life that I'll never get back. It's just about the worst CD I have ever heard in my life. They took all these really great songs, and ruined them. I swear they recorded it while they were drunk, high, and riding in the back of a van. Some of the vocals sounds like they have a mouthful of marbles while they attempt to sing. After listening to this CD, I feel violated.

Now, I enjoy a good acoustic version of a song, and I enjoy different arrangments of songs, but the arrangements of these songs is just dreadful. I think Jon and Richie's kids arranged them.

I'm going to have nightmares about it.

OK, I'm done.

Karen, thanks for that FYI! I love Bon Jovi myself, but sounds like one I will definitely need to skip!

I'd highly recommend listening to clips of it on the internet before shelling out the money for it. I wish I did. It was very disappointing.

Oh good idea!! I normally do that before buying anyway, unless I know the CD already.

I am a HUGE fan of the band myself and when I was watching VH1's Command the Band and they were playing snipets of the acoustic version, I about died. I instantly hated them. I just don't understand why they'd want to change the songs tempos so drastically - yuck.

I wouldn't have bought it anyway, sorry you did and you were dissapointed.

Also - I'd be really upset if they did half a show solely accousticly too.

Don't think this CD will go over well at all - what were they thinking???

I, too, am a HUGE Bon Jovi fan. I remember the very first time I heard "Prayer" in 1986. I've loved the band ever since. I went to their site this morning to listen to the tracks and see what I thought....thank the Lord I did. What the heck....??? I loved the acoustic versions of "Runaway" and "Prayer" that were released before, but this album is made up of....well, sorry to say...crap. It sounds terrible. I had to laugh when Karen wondered if they were drunk or high...that is EXACTLY what I thought. :earseek: These guys are TOO talented to be releasing this rehashed stuff. But, at the same time, I know they are trying to stretch themselves and go in new directions. I just thing this is the *wrong* direction!

Let's hope their next studio album will make up for this one. ;)

Really? I think they did a really great job reinventing their songs. I don't love them all, but most of them are amazing. I just wish I could go see them at the Borgata next weekend.

I love the new CD. It took me a little while of listening to the clips to get used to it and I wasn't sure about it at first but now I love it and find myself singing the new versions. If you didn't know what to expect I'm sure your were pretty surprised by it but give it a chance. I love the sound of Jon's voice on this CD, it is sooo sexy!
