Let me clarify that when I was talking maintenance, I'm not just talking about broken machines, but regular maintenance (cleaning, etc., preventative maintenance), and also syrup refills, etc. (I'm actually not sure how they fit it all in to the Freestyles as it is, unless it's SUPER concentrated...)

when they first came out with free style they shared it and they opened the bottom and you see small boxes.for example they have diet coke with different flavors you can add but they also have the flavors as a stand alone. so they came up with a way that they can program them to add the flavor in another drink. so it saves them space it was very interesting how they did it basically just link changing a print cartridge. i think they even came up with a better way to contact them to the machine so it be eaiser to change.


disney will do the cleaning and changing of the syrups and co2 and can do some preventative maintenace but the most part it up to coke yes you wont see them standing around the machines.

I actually don't know if Coke or VersaFill is responsible for the maintenance on the machines. VersaFill has their own dispenser station line, and the ones in place look like theirs. But VersaFill and Coke have an exclusive partnership, so unless Disney went with their own tech, VersaFill was the only choice - unless they didn't want RFID at all.

But in the end, what I'm saying is that they COULD have brought in the Freestyles, which are becoming quite popular elsewhere. They didn't, because someone - Disney, Coke or VersaFill, did not want to provide it, at least under the terms of the contract. Why, we don't know, but I wonder if overall the maintenance requirements may have been a factor.

your right i love if they bring a free style to disney and maybe one day they will i am sure it might be disney who my not want them but they did if i remember right did have them at dca. when they did the food and wine shows out their they tested them so maybe disney didn't like it or coke saw something they didn't like. may be it used to much and they knew disney wouldn't be happy having to change it so often. i always wonder why club cool never got one early on what better place to put on display.

We will be staying for 27 nights at the Boardwalk Villas starting next month. We do have 2 different room types so will be changing rooms midway. Will one mug purchase work for us?

Supposedly "length of stay" means just that...but there is currently a technical limitation of 14 days. I haven't heard how they will address longer trips yet, but keep the receipt!

All the machines have been changed out already. Not all are actively enforcing RFID yet.

They are super concentrated. They look like really long inkjet printer cartridges. This is a decent picture. You can see the insides and the worker holding a refill of a drink.

I did get a glance of one open before, and it struck me how computer-like it was...

Looks like the main soda syrups are the larger ones above, and the flavor adds are smaller in a row below.

My guess is the Freestyle machines don't have enough capacity for something like the Pop food court, I think a Coke tech has to change out the syrup cartridges on them, and Coke wouldn't want to have to send someone to each resort multiple times a day to change them out.

But I could see them using them in Club Cool, or something like that.

With the current machines, Disney will be responsible for cleaning them, changing the syrup over when they're empty, making sure the CO2 tanks are filled.

If they break, or require any maintenance (they do require regular maintenance like line cleaning, and ensuring carbonation is set properly) a Coke tech would come in and do that for them. At least that's how it is with the Pepsi pop fountains we have at the restaurant I work at.
