new blog: Some Dos and Don'ts of Frozen Summer Fun

Disney’s Hollywood Studio’s event, Frozen Summer Fun, began running on July 6 and will continue to run daily (with the exception of August 23) until September 1. It really is a cute event, allowing the park to keep its identity while accenting it with some winter fun in the dead of summer.

I'm gonna be doing some "don't" activities. I already bought the package. I will double fist alcoholic Frozen themed cocktails in an attempt to make my money up :crazy2:

I'll add this from the other board discussing. It's another poster's review from the SWW and my view. I think more info is sometimes a good thing when shelling out this kind of $:
We did the SWW version which was a little less but Frozen gets the seating at the show that we did not get. We had never done anything like this - I never could wrap my head around Dessert Parties to see something that was otherwise free, but now I might be looking to try those as well.

The area it is in is large but it is basically a square so:
- During the parade much of it is useless. There was a section along the rope for handicapped seating and an area for children (they were to be seated on the ground so all could see) then the remainder of the rope was open to anyone however half of that did not face the parade because it ends at the stage. I highly suggest you get there early if you want front row, there will be a line to enter long before it opens.
- During the Fireworks/Dessert Party there are high cocktail tables with a few lower ones reserved for handicapped guests (wc/ecv height) and certainly not enough tables for all of the guests. You may find yourself sharing a table with strangers which is fine. This is not optimal viewing for fireworks since so close to the hat but just having all that space, not be pushed, able to move around was worth it. Again, arrive early - there was a line an hour before opening of the area. Our goal was to be as far back as we could for a better view and it worked out well because most folks were going for closer to stage or towards American Idol which also gave them more view of the fireworks.

Refreshments:
- Daytime was great. All you wanted. We had ice cream bars and sodas while we waited. Could have had more ice cream. We grabbed a couple waters each as we left. They have plenty there and offering it to you as you leave.
- Nighttime - the desserts were awesome. We had plenty of time to try them all and get a more of our favorites. The set up with the buffet was great, no lines or problems going back to get more. They never ran out until towards the end. Plenty of drinks, sodas, waters etc. The alcoholic drinks - we were so excited about - were bad. We tried each and couldn't drink more than a few sips of each, tasted like cheap alcohol. That was okay, we just got more desserts.

It was totally worth it for us to not be in a crush of people during the day (and expect Frozen to be just as bad) and we thoroughly enjoyed the dessert party plus you'll get the show. :thumbsup2 Best suggestion is arrive early to both lines to be able to get a good spot inside. I am trying to decide if I want to do this one now. You can not judge the night group by the day, we saw many walk up and pay for the dessert party on the spot who were not at the day parade. ENJOY!!

This is about right. I did the SWW one and the biggest tip is easily get the back table and stay away from the front near the stage for fireworks.

As for the Magic Kingdom dessert party, it's rubbish. I wouldn't waste your money. It's a decent view but the food is subpar. The desserts at SWW were good and from what I've seen for the FrPrPa it's the same type of stuff and they added fruit (which is nice). Not to mention the alcoholic drinks are well done and themed perfect.

Is it worth it? Depends on the value you place on convenience. Many of the reviews JL's on here and Kenny the Pirate will say it's not but, I think they are in the bottle somewhat there. They know the little tricks of the trade better than most of us and have a chance to come back again. I have annual passes but I am not as familiar with the park as many of the locals. If you are taking your family for a 6 day trip once a year..... by all means this is great. You basically have a place holder for the cost which cuts down fighting for a spot. Lastly, along with convenience I think day matters. I'm going on a weekend so, yes I will pay. If it's a low traffic day in park.... may be worth just staking your own spots. My 2 cents.

Those who have gotten the premium package have reported it was unlimited. I can't wait for the Blue Dream....

and the unlimited Mickey Bars in the morning, of course. ;)

I don't remember seeing the Blue Dream at the party. How did I miss it? I did try a green drink. But the POG had my name all over it!!

AND there were all you could eat Mickey Bars at the dessert too. They were in their own section away from the tables.

AND to top it off, our dessert was indoors and moved outside for the fireworks. I grabbed a POG before heading out of the building and enjoyed it during the fireworks.

On the way out of the area, there was another beverage cart and they were handing out soda and water to go!!!

Yes, true!! I loved the package and felt it was well worth it.

I hope you enjoy it as much as we did!

Count me in as another "don't". I was so excited to go but are all the drinks mixed cocktails. I don't eat dessert and those seem like dessert with alcohol, too much sugar.

Are there other options?
