new blog: Orlando and So Cal Theme Park Results in 2012 Golden Ticket Awards

I was very happy to read that Universal is being recognized for its remarkable theme parks. :cheer2:

Incredibly silly for Ripsaw Falls to beat out Splash Mountain for best water ride.

You may disagree, but I wouldn't say it's "incredibly silly" at all. I enjoy them both.

I think the actual drop is much better at Ripsaw but the inside of the ride is much better at Splash. So I guess it all depends on what you are voting for!

I think one of the best parts of Rip Saw is the opportunity for guests to spray the vehicles after the big drop. I think there are nine water "guns"? And some of them have a huge blast. So Universal makes money, the guests firing the guns have fun (it was AWESOME just to pop in quarters and nail riders with water), and presumably the people riding a water flume mind don't mind getting wet (especially in the hotter periods).

Thanks for sharing! Impressed and happy to see how well Universal did. :thumbsup2

Rip Saw is an awesome ride and like mentioned the fact one could spend hours :rolleyes1 and many quarters adds to the fun factor!

i usually carry about $10 in quarters when i stand on that bridge.

it's so much fun................and money well spent.........:)

Ripsaw is a cheap Splash ripoff. How is it better? Because the drop is 20 feet higher? Splash Mountain is one of the great theme park attractions in the world. Ripsaw is a cheap flume ride. It's ridiculous to even put them in the same discussion, let alone rank Ripsaw higher. The award isn't most thrilling water ride, so that's only partially relevant. Jurassic Park is also world's better than this ride.

Cedar Point was voted the top amusement park and Magic Kingdom was 5th. That, right there, should tell you what the voters were looking for.

That's a valid choice though. If they voted Cedar Point top theme park that would be ridiculous, but it's an amusement park. For pure fun (amusement), Cedar Point is the best. But just putting a bigger drop on a water ride doesn't make it a better "ride".

Ripsaw Falls is a record breaking water flume ride. The fastest and also the only one to have a drop that goes underneath the surface of the water.

This is just opinions and as relevant as yours or mine. Ripsaw is very popular.
