new blog: Do You Own the Space Above You in a Theme Park?

When our kids were small I never put them on my shoulders so they could see. If anything I would hold them in my arms so their heads were even with mine and they could see as well as I could.

I will always let a child stand in front of me to get a better view, but I resent it when I stake out a good viewing spot well ahead of time and then, just as the event starts, someone hoists a child onto their shoulders and blocks my view. If they are close enough I will say something politely and people usually will make an adjustment. If they think I am being rude for bringing it up, I really don't care.
