New Blog: Disneyland Announces Diamond Celebration Details

Oooooh yes! The new Fireworks mapping idea looks like it will be fun!! We just got back from a trip mid January... Im hoping I can steal away for a long weekend in May when the celebration actually begins!! Thanks for the post!! :cheer2:

ooooh! DId they say how long the celebration is expected to be? We plan to go in October

Thank you Tom!! I'm going in July for the actual birthday, but all these exciting new things makes me want to go sooner!!

corinne76, I heard the celebration will continue through 2016.

Thanks Tom.

I'm curious to know whether they will be redressing the park for halloween and if Mickey's Halloween Party will be run as often?

aaahhh want to add LA days onto our WDW in Nov now....unlikely to be able to talk DH into it though-Paint the night looks cool

Thanks Tom.

Disney won't tell us that right now, but it's something that we've recently talked about in the Halloween at DLR Superthread.

The rumor is that the Halloween party will move back to DCA this year, with more party nights added into the schedule and an earlier kickoff (like earlier than it usually starts). Cast Members who trained for last year's MHP were supposedly told that "big changes" are coming to the party in 2015. It's only a rumor so far, but I have said (since last year) that it makes sense to me in light of the events of the 60th. Working the new fireworks and new nighttime parade into Mickey's Halloween Party seems to make very little sense for a few reasons, and I can't see Disney deciding to scrap their new 60th anniversary-specific entertainment (in Disneyland) in favor of running something they run every year, which they can simply run again next year (meaning Halloween Screams and the Cavalcade).

Having the party in DCA seems like it would be less disruptive somehow, and they could turn the focus onto World of Color (maybe a Halloween-ified version of it) and whatever else they add in.

But right now, it's all speculation based on rumors.

I think that the holiday season nighttime entertainment will be impacted too.

The "Official" date the celebration begins is May 22, but will we see any of this before that date? For instance, will the castle remain tarped through May 21st?

I'd like to know this too. A cast member told me the castle referb is unveiled March 3rd. But some people think just the walk through will be open. 4 months with the castle covered is extremely long and would wreck a lot of people's holidays.

This is interesting, but makes sense. We're planning a week in October, so 5 park days plus a MHP. We want to be sure to catch all the festivities!

I'm doing the Disney Panama Canal cruise that will dock in San Diego on May 15th. :cheer2::cheer2::cool1: I will be at the parks afterward, but leave on May 21. I am so hoping that the parades and shows will be in soft openings by then. Otherwise, I think it will be Sept or Oct before I can see them and that will make me very, very sad.
