Yes, you wrote an excellent article as always. I am just incredulous that several announcement have been made within a few weeks after the D23 Expo. I imagine a few D23 Expo planners are having a 'what the ..." moment as well.

I think Disney shot themselves in the foot by making these announcements after the Expo. It tells me, "oh, OK I don't need to go to the Expo because you're not going to announce anything there." I had forgotten that the DCL Imagineers even mentioned during their presentation that they could not say who the stern character was for the Fantasy during the Expo. So it was brought up, discussed, and intentionally decided not to be mentioned. Ridiculous.
Someone mentioned in one of the other threads on the subject that Stagg's statement released after D23 commenting on the lack of major new announcements actually makes quite a bit more sense now.
He hinted that while the "timing may not be right to make any major announcements, we wanted to give our guests an update on progress on existing projects". At the time the statement was made, it sounded like just the normal spin and PR blowing of smoke, however after the announcement yesterday about Avatar, it seems like he definitely knew this was coming, but legal hadn't yet worked out the details to the point they could actually announce things.
While this is a shocking announcement, I'm all for expansion so I can't say I'm disappointed. I don't really know how it will integrate with the park, but I'm curious to see how it plays out.
Hi Everyone, Disney released a video of Bob Iger, Tom Staggs, and James Cameron discussing the project, and I added it to our original article that you can find via the link below.
