So my Keens are giving me problems. I put off buying new sneakers because i bought keens. I'm woundering if i should just go and get new newbalance sneakers. Should I be okay wearning them out of the box? I'v killed any support and shock from my old newbalances; however. they look okay.

You can answer your own question here,,, since you have a pair of new balance sneaks already, how long did it take to break them in or were they comfortable out of the box when you bought them.

Personally I go with RYKA, you can wear them straight our of the box, they are made specifically for women. The absolute best shoes ever!

Personally, I would be leary of wearing new sneakers right of out the box to the World. But it's totally up to you.

ps - I have heard runners/walkers SWEAR by Ryka...they are pricey though!

I wear New Balance 574, black for work and white for casual. They have leather uppers, and the blacks are office presentable. I wear wides and they do not sell them locally, I order them from LL Bean. They carry the whole range of sizes and widths.

These are one of the few shoes that I would wear all day on my first day. They are that comfortable and if you get the right size they are wearable out of the box. I once bought a new pair and wore them for the first time on a trip to Singapore. No problems.

I shudder thinking about all those guests who try to do a week at WDW without taking good care of their feet.

Tip 1: Carry some moleskin and pad any wear spots(on you, not the shoes :teeth: ) at midday before any red spots form. Never let a blister form.

Tip 2: Cotton socks are a little cooler, but the midweight Wigwam or Smartwool Merino wool socks from camp stores like campmor.com that have extra thickness on the toe, bottom and heal give great padding on all that concrete walking but are cooler to wear than winter type socks that are thick all over.

Tip 3: The BIG TIP: The NB shoes are great, but the insoles are a little cheap and thin. Spend $12 to $18 and get one of the top Dr. Scholls inserts, whichever is right for you. I use the green ones. Put one in and stand in your new shoes, one foot with the factory and one with the Dr. S. In one second or less you will know, and cannot believe the difference changing the insole can make if you have never bought replacement insoles before. I kick myself for all the years I wore any shoes with the factory inserts.

Now go enjoy walking :cool1: your 10 miles per day at the House of Mouse.

I just got two pair of RYKA's at Bealls for 40% off. They were $38 before the discount.

I always bought New Balance but last year I purchased Nike because they were prettier! They were white with a little pink on them.

They are not New Balance and I am going back! Every pair of them I have bought lasted for several years and I wear them every day! Well worth the money!

I broke my foot several years ago and the support in them is excellent!

I won't buy another brand of sneaker again!

I have never had a problem with them right out of the box either!

DH forgot his sneakers on our last trip so he bought new ones down there and didn not have a problem with them!

Good Luck!

I've been wearing New Balance walking shoes for about 4 or 5 years. I go with the model 574 that FlaNative mentioned (I started with a 572, then changed to 573 and then 574 as they released the new models and discontinued the old). I prefer the velcro version; they are easy to get on and off, and easy to adjust on the fly if something makes my feet sore or causes swelling.

I have a pair in white and a pair in black, and buy a new pair of each every year or so, so I have had about 6 pair of them over the years.

They break in very easily, but even so, I would buy them at least two weeks before a WDW trip, preferably a month (depending on how much walking you do in an average day at work).

Breaking in any new shoes on a WDW trip is a bad idea, even shoes as good as NB 574. There is always an initial stiffness that takes a while to fade, and if you are walking 5-7 miles a day for a week, that initial stiffness can translate into sore feet.

Go ahead and get the NBs, just make sure you break them in a bit before WDW.

I agree with WillCAD. I wear NB almost exclusively (I'm the teacher who wears sneakers with her skirts!), but I'd give them a few weeks to break in, just in case. I bought a pair of 606s on sale ($21!) and they're comfy, but didn't have as much support as my old 855s, so I added a Dr. Scholls arch support. They're more supportive now, and I'm still under $30 for good sneakers! I'm bringing both pair with me on our trip. If the 606s aren't as comfy as I'd like after a few miles, I'll switch to my tried and true 855s! Perhaps you can add an orthotic or gel cushioning to your old ones, since they still look good? I have friends who run who swear by the gel inserts.

Good luck and happy traveling!

Merrell and New Balance are the only brands I trust to wear right out of the box.

Walked 2 miles today in my new NB sneakers. No feet problem. My ankle/calf hurt. not sure if it was due to not streatching or the new sneakers. I'm going to try putting a arch support insert into the sneakers as they dont have as much support as my old NB sneakers.

My DBF had New balances for our one trip feet didnt hurt went back down with a different brand his feet hurt. Wore New Balances the next trip and his feet didnt hurt. He Loves them.

DH and I will ONLY wear New Balance ... they are THE BEST!!! :thumbsup2 As a matter of fact I am in need of a new pair ... mine are old and looking pretty shabby!!

I work in a hospital, and I will only wear new balances. I put on lay away thin socks I hope they do not give me any trouble on this trip.

I have tried the moleskin, and I could never get it to work for me. I have also sprayed my feet with deodrant.

If I had to wear something out of the box it would be NB. Took my well broken in Nikes with me last year that I thought were very comfy. I had blisters before day 3 and could hardly stand to put them back on my feet. I wore flip flops the rest of the trip. I'm going back to NBs.
