We purchased our appliances (fridge, stove and dishwasher) together as a set back in 1995. They are the Fridgidaire gallery series in white.

Well, our fridge is a mess!! The one door handle is practically hanging from a thread...the 2 drawers are totally cracked (as well as the track it rides on). The icemaker/water took a poop (probably could be fixed but why). The whole inside the fridge has little cracks in the wall part. It has just had it!!

Anyway...my question...we really wanted to do stainless steel appliances (first......anybody have them....are they really bad with the finger prints etc??)......Either way...I want done with my side by side and want a fridge with the freezer on the bottom.....even if I get white again....

Now.....since my stove and dishwasher (actually the dishwasher works when it wants to).....work pretty decent and are in decent shape...should I just shop for a new fridge......or just buy all 3??????....to match...??

Once again....how are the stainless steel appliances??? And would it look stupid to have the stainless fridge and the white stove and dishwasher????

thanks for any opinions....
Lisa

I have a stainless dishwasher, it's not too bad with the fingerprints. I've heard they are, but I haven't had a problem. When I get a new stove and fridge it will be stainless and I also want the freezer on the bottom. I'm tired of the side by side, it doesn't fit anything.

Lisa - I have the freezer on the bottom & I like it, but I keep saying that when it goes I'd like to try a side by side;)
I think that a stainless steel fridge would match your other appliances okay for a while if you don't want to have to get all 3 new at once. On the other hand maybe you could get a better deal if you bought all three at once.
My friend has stainless steel and she has never complained about fingerprint problems, but her children are 11 & 13 so they aren't as likely to make as much mess as little kids.

We just bought a new Fridge, Dishwasher and Stove. And a Washer & Dryer. All from Sears. We decided not to get Stainless Steel, We thought that almond would go better in our kitchen. I'm just baffled that your fridge is only 7 years old and falling apart! YIKES! We also got the freezer on the bottom and are happy. We were going to get a side by side, but it would have to be one of the wide ones which wouldn't fit.

Good Luck!

Whatever you do, just stay away from Frigidaire! But, I guess I don't have to tell you that.;)

We bought our Frigidaire side-by-side 5 years ago and you should see this piece of junk!!!! The area right below the water dispenser is all rusted and is getting worse. It's really a design problem. We bought the extended warranty when we purchased it. The rust problem started within 1 year of the purchase. We have also had it repaired two times for different problems, which were covered under the warranty. The chilling and vegetable drawers are cracked. Two of my friends also have Frigidaire refrigerators and they have had similar problems. One of them has a stainless and has told me about the fingerprint problem.

I have called them, written letters to CS and their CEO. I even tried Planet feedback two times, and never received a reply. They just don't care. When the rust began to show, I called them about it and they said that it wasn't covered as it was considered an aesthetic problem. I even tried resolving the problem with the extended warranty company and got the same response.

So, I have this piece of junk that cost over $1K which I have to look at everyday and the problem is getting worse. I'm never again buying Frigidaire!!!! :mad:

I really needed to vent..... ;)

I gave in to DH's pressure 3 years ago and bought a freezer on the bottom fridge and I won't buy anything else now. I love it, it's much more convenient!!

2 things:

1) Make sure you get a light in your freezer

2) Why don't you look into getting a fridge with a changeable front panel so you can convert it whenever you want?
