New Annaul Pass Activation

I'm trying to figure out if my wife and I purchase annual passes today and add it to our disney account, can we still get fast pass reservations without activating the passes?

I'm asking because my wife wants to start getting fast passes for our trip in December 2018, but we don't want to activate our passes until the first day of out trip so we can use them in early Decmeber 2019 on next years trip.

Yes.

Agree. I have done it that way several times. I order a GOLD DVC pass and link it to my MDE account. Make my FP+ reservations at 60 days. Activate my pass upon arrival and that is the day my pass year begins.
