Ok, I'm sure that a few of you won't like what I have to say, but here goes....... I'm NOT a Fantasia hater, but I don't really care for her voice. As Simon said on one of the earlier nights, "her voice has a cartoon-like sound to it. Like Donald Duck on helium". All of her songs "sound" the same. I have a very extensive musical back ground and her voice to me wasn't too appealling to me. She does sing well and I was voting for her in her group of 10 at the beginning.
I believe that Diana has a powerhouse voice that can sing several types of music. The thing that was against her was her age. She is ONLY 16 and sounds that good. I can only hope that my children can sing that good at that age. You also have to take into consideration that she STILL had school and had to attend classes while doing all this! She even had a term paper due TODAY! Not too much pressure for a 16 year old. I have a feeling that she will do what Clay did last year and make something for herself.
Either way, it was still a great show! I was happy for Fantasia and wish all the best for Diana as well. They BOTH will have great careers!
THE ONLY COMPLAINT I HAVE...... is the judges!! Don't get me wrong, I love them BUT did anyone else notice last night that they didn't really "critic the song" (except for Diana's last song). It was like they had already decided who was the American Idol and that Diana was just there to "go through the motions". Randy said something like "you really came here tonight to win" which is fine, but the way all of them complimented Diana, it was as if they were talking down to her or something. Maybe I read into what and how they say things, but I really think they gave it to Fantasia last night. Paula calling Fantasia last night THE American idol rubbed me the wrong way. It was like Diana didn't have a prayer!
Also, another side note, even if you didn't watch the final out come tonight and watched the pre-show, you could tell who was going to win by looking at the dressing rooms. Diana had NOTHING in her room, but Fantasia had flowers galory and the tiffany candle from Tony Braxton. Come on, even a blind squirrel finds a nut sometimes!
Oh well, it is still a great show and will watch it again in January! I was so happy to see my John Stevens again! (yes, I'm one of those people who liked the boy!)
