New Al Lutz: Lots of World of Color News (debuting June 10), Bye-Bye Maliboomer

It sounds similar to the way they do things at WDW at the Disney Hollywood Studio. Usually when Fantasmic shows, the rides and attractions close down. Fantasmic is held in a huge amphitheatre. Everyone in the park heads there. Although Fantasmic at DHS has benches to sit on, it's a huge crowd--and it requires patience to exit.

Regarding viewing areas, obviously Disney knows that there are many kids who will come to see WOC. With the terraced viewing there will be ways for kids to get a view. I would not worry about it too much until we know more. :)

We plan to go at the end of July. Hopefully by then some of you will have gone and posted a good plan of attack for WoC. ;)

Unless there is some kind of dinner/dessert seating we will avoid it like the plague in June!!!....oh and we'd do it without the kids.

I'm waiting until later in the fall after the initial rush dies down (if it ever does) but at least by then we'll know how things work and what the tips are for having the best viewing experience. And I don't see how Disney can keep 9000 people all standing, what are they going to do? Constantly be going around and telling people to stand up if they all sit? People are used to Fantasmic and sitting, so they might very well just sit, especially tired kids and if a good majority does I don't see as where Disney can do much about it. There would just be too many people. I'm also wondering if the viewing area is the only place you can watch? Will you be able to see the show from anywhere along the water?

I won't be rushing to see WOC but I will eventually. Sad to see Maliboomer get the axe again! I'm glad my DD10 finally got tall enough to ride it. Looks like we will have to ride it a lot before it leaves. :goodvibes

It just seems worth noting that the date mentioned in the referenced blog is still speculation. No date has yet to be officially announced by Disney for the opening of WoC.

Al Lutz? Speculation!?!?! Heresy! ;)

I know the dates are still fuzzy but do we have any idea what time the WoC will show nightly?

If you read the original post it discusses this...

Al Lutz of MiceAge has once again assembled a very interesting and informative update on DLR.

Here is a link: http://miceage.micechat.com/allutz/al033010a.htm

Here are some highlights:

o WOC viewing area walls come down this Friday
o WOC testing going well and on schedule
o WOC debut looks like Thursday June 10 - this is a grad night and will only be a media event (the public debut would logically be on June 11).
o The WOC Showpass is going to happen and they will use the GRR FP machines
o Two WOC shows will happen each night at 9PM and 10:15
o All PP rides will go down for the night at 8PM to focus on WOC
o Golden Zephyr reopening this week
o PP will have new background music
o Radiator Springs Racer car testing to start in May
o Silly Symphony Swings in to open in May
o Little Mermaid set to debut in late May 2011
o Maliboomer removal to happen in September
o Mulholland Madness going down for retheme to Goofy Sky School in October
o Captain EO has been a success

I just dont understand why Disney will use the GRR fastpasses instead of the Bugs land show fastpasses... :\

I was under the impression the WOC was orginally opening in May. I have reservations at VGC for mid May, all our plans are set. I am so disappointed it might not start until June. :sad1:

Does that mean they won't have FP for GRR anymore?

I would say I'm glad I'm not coming til next summer for this to simmer down, but there will just be something new opening next summer. lol

GRR is a very popular ride during the summer. I dont think it being close to hotel would benefit... unless they are allowing that area to open during EE.

GRR is a popular ride, but not until the afternoons when it warms up. The fastpass stations are closed when the park opens (since there is no wait yet), and then open up later. I think the thought is that the WOC showpasses will go fast, and will "sell-out" before GRR fastpass distribution would usually start for the day,

The GRR FP machines have always been turned on first thing in the morning when I have visited.

LOL, I did see your shiny new thread. But I fear I'm becoming overwhelmed with DCA and all it's changes, when I don't have a reference point to start with. thus my new thread saying I'm confused. I really am trying to follow it all, I swear. ;)
