Al Lutz of MiceAge has once again assembled a very interesting and informative update on DLR.

Here is a link: http://miceage.micechat.com/allutz/al033010a.htm

Here are some highlights:

o WOC viewing area walls come down this Friday
o WOC testing going well and on schedule
o WOC debut looks like Thursday June 10 - this is a grad night and will only be a media event (the public debut would logically be on June 11).
o The WOC Showpass is going to happen and they will use the GRR FP machines
o Two WOC shows will happen each night at 9PM and 10:15
o All PP rides will go down for the night at 8PM to focus on WOC
o Golden Zephyr reopening this week
o PP will have new background music
o Radiator Springs Racer car testing to start in May
o Silly Symphony Swings in to open in May
o Little Mermaid set to debut in late May 2011
o Maliboomer removal to happen in September
o Mulholland Madness going down for retheme to Goofy Sky School in October
o Captain EO has been a success

Thanks Trey. Was hoping that they would announce if there will be a dinner show. We will be skipping the F dessert seating this year, so a dinner show would be just right.

I find the timing to be really interesting. If WoC starts as now anticipated, we will be there two weeks after the opening. I chose those dates because I'm hoping the summer vacationer crowds will not yet be in full swing, our deluxe APs are not blocked and, yet, the more prevelent So Cal APs are blocked.

I do feel for all the So Cal AP holders who have been looking forward to the WoC debut. With the current starting date (and excluding any soft opening shows) they will have four (So Cal Select) or six (So Cal) days on which they can use their pass to watch the new show before they are blocked until the end of summer. Of course, they can always upgrade their AP or buy a blockout ticket!

with the sit down approach like fantasmic it will be interesting.

As I understood it, the space will accommodate standing room only, no sit down like we have for F! I fear that will lead to a lot of pushing and shoving. Not to mention tired and cranky guests who are forced to stand for quite a long period of time with very little room to move. Add the logistical nightmare of a child needing to use the restroom and attempting to return to their party...

I "was" wondering if they would allow you to sit? (clarify: before they make you stand) Like for the fireworks at DL. But after reading where they will "hold" you at sunshine plaza until it's time to parade you down the parade route to the viewing area; makes sitting appear impossible. IDK sounds like a nightmare. I am hoping for that dinner package.

aww thanks for that info. While i was there a few weeks ago I remember thinking how are people going to see sitting with the landscaping also all around.. Yikes i feel bad for whomever ends up behind my tall family....

I think I might be the only one not really interested in WOC. I'm sure I'll see it eventually, it sounds cool enough. I'm just not dying to see it right away, or even anytime soon after opening. I'm much more excited for the Cars stuff that is going on. :)

Soo, how is any kid supposed to see unless they end up on Daddy's shoulders?

I forsee huge huge problems.

Nope, you're not the only one ;)

I mean, it sounds like it'll be a great show, and I've enjoyed the couple of videos that I've seen of them testing the projections, but "standing room only" and "9,000 people" together in a sentence doesn't exactly make me want to be there on opening day...or any time shortly thereafter. No, I'll go watch Fantasmic, and maybe not have to camp out for a couple hours ahead of time to get a good view.

Now, the Little Mermaid ride, THAT I'm excited about!

That too! I am definitely excited to see how it turns out.

We will see WoC eventually, but I think I'll join some of you in waiting until it's not the "newest" thing out there and until they get some of the seating/standing/package details worked out.

We are doing a day trip this summer to just DL using our GAD vouchers and I'm actually OK with not having a parkhopper given DCA's growing pains. My kids are OK with waiting until they get Little Mermaid and Carsland operational.

I am intrigued. Staying at GCH checking in June 13 and using the back entrance to gain access to the GRR FP machines for WOC will be convenient. It will definitely make for an interesting trip report:thumbsup2

We have 4 kids and another one on the way so not enough shoulders.:sad2:

What if you have people who can't stand that long? Our autistic son has to retreat to his stroller periodically? What about wheelchairs? :confused3

This sounds like poor planning on Disney's part.

I agree. I saw fantasmic once and was neat but I'm not excited about WOC. Maybe in a few years.

Sounds like a disaster and just another thing where I'm going to feel like I'm cattle getting herded around.

I'm really disappointed in this: " All PP rides will go down for the night at 8PM to focus on WOC " On weekends this is going to be a nightmare for DL. For the people that don't want to see WOC or who have already seen it, they're all going to go into DL and on weekends that are already packed in DL this is going to create more of a problem.
