Just came back and went to HDD. We were so sad they changed the actors. The guy that played Six Bits was nothing like the one we saw multiple times over the years. My kids were so disappointed. Does any know how often they renew their contracts? It looked liked they were all different. We won' t be going back anytime soon.

Contracts come up for renewal every year. But IF the actors you like are no longer with Disney, remember that it's just as likely that the actor asked for a change as it is that Disney decided to change. And just because the actor you loved is no longer at Hoop doesn't mean he's no longer at Disney. Doing the same role over and over year after year can get tiring, and actors often request to learn or audition for different roles.

It's also quite possible that the people you saw when you were at the show were subs who just happened to be in for that show (not every actor performs every single show every single night ... you may have simply hit a night where your favorite actor was off or had called in sick).

If it seemed to you that the entire cast was different, you may have just seen the "two day cast" where in the past you've always happened upon the "five day cast".

I wouldn't necessarily never go to the show again without first finding out if the actor(s) you like are still there. Just because you didn't see your favorite performers on that one night doesn't mean they're all gone.

Should be interesting to see others posts. We love this show. My dad may get excited if it's a whole new crew entirely. Every year we go, it never fails where we sit, the lady that picks the gentlemen from the audience to dress up as a the fairy, ALWAYS picks my dad. :lmao: Never fails. Seriously. :rotfl2: Maybe if it's a new cast, this one won't be eyeballing my dad in the crowd.
Was it atleast a good show still?

How do you find out if the actors are still there? Who would you contact. I doubt they would be willing to give out names of the actors for a specific day and show time.

There are entertainment CMs here on the DIS. Plus, people here see the show all the time. If you post a photo of the actor(s) you're interested in knowing about, it's likely someone can tell you when they last saw that performer or if they saw them recently. And Entertainment CMs may know who the actor is and be able to tell you if they're still at Disney.

You can also write directly to Disney (via Guest Communications) and ask about specific performers (photos obviously help).

I would just hate for you to never go to the show again because you're assuming the actors you like best are no longer there. When, in fact, they may have just had the night off.

We went to Flights of Wonder with our grandkids and were disappointed to see "our" Guano Joe wasn't the same. The kids didn't care one lick about it. They loved the show and even if the Cast Member is a permanent change, I'll still go back time and time again.

Life goes on, people change jobs, heck, people can even pass away. Adapt and adjust and move on.

Contracts are renewed every year and just recently the cast had several replacements, all of the females are new.

The ironic thing though, Six Bits did not change. It's still the two same gentleman that portray him in a full time capacity, but there are several other Subs that fill in.

The 2 FTers are very different in demenor, one has a tall, bear like figure. The other is a shorter, skinner guy (more notable from his days as a Streetmosphere Performer a couple years ago).

I do not want to give out their names in a public forum, but if you have additional questions, feel free to PM me.

omg I must be the odd one out here...I would rather be shot in the foot than sit through that torture again...no amount of changing actors could improve this show.. just my opinion:)

Over the past 26 years I've seen several changes in the HDDR cast. Keep in mind these are real people with real lives and each and every one will provide quality entertainment no matter what show they are performing in.

I've seen members of the HDDR also singing with the Voices of Liberty the day after I saw them in HDDR. I'm guessing they were regulars in one or the other and filling in with the other, or just doing double duty. We're talking about some very talented people. Some of the musicians I work with also work, or have worked, at WDW either full-time or part-time. One was a sub for several years and when he got a call he never knew for sure what group he would be playing with. Another used to be full-time, but the cutbacks turned him part-time so now he also works at Universal, too. I know of several who used to be full-time who just come back to play in the orchestra for the Candlelight Processional each year.

I saw a Six Bits recently who pretty much sucked.

The guys aren't all new. I don't know about the girls. I know the Dolly was new...and also not that good. Their timing is just...off. Hope they improve!

The food improved a little. No more hard little kernels of yellow on mini corn on the cobs. We had a bowl of corn. Yea!

I really do like the HDD. :)

Does anyone know this actor's name and if he is still cast in the Hoop Dee Doo Revue? He's a standout in that show and I wouldn't be surprised to find that he's moved on to bigger things. He hasn't been there my last 3 visits and the show really misses him!
